That means 95% of us who can't do that ourselves and have to buy these kits from the guys who can.

This is no dig on JDL here because I would consider any of their products, but you can't seriously post something defending how flexible a car is and mount your oil cooler on the front of the crash beam where it becomes a fire/safety/oil pressure risk on street and track even in a 5MPH bump.

What I think he meant was that, this is currently how the users setup looks like. He even says you can move the oil cooler to a better location for cooling (and safety). This can be done without purchase or fabrication.

I'm by no means an expert, nor do I own a shop. But the guy is right, the car is pretty darn flexible with where you can mount the radiator/condenser/oil cooler should you have one. Even turbo piping has days of room under the bumper.

In any case, any DIY garage monkey can make any configuration work pretty easily.

That makes more sense when you put it that way.

I just wanted to throw it out there that "easy" is relative and not synonymous with safe and durable in so many cases.

I love using this quote, technically "There's a risk associated with going outside into the world, but that doesn't stop people from doing it everyday".

There's always safety concerns, and risk/reward plays a big part in that. For the average 'garage monkey' joe, you're willing to sacrifice a small portion of safety to alleviate heating problems, etc.

I'm not totally sure what the motive behind mounting the oil cooler in that particular fashion was, but you can pretty much ziptie the core to several different locations (side passenger fender for me).

I believe my FBM radiator/shroud/fan kit is 1 inch forward on the top, and 1 inch on the bottom. This was needed because the stage 2 downpipe is pretty large. I moved it forward by re-drilling the grommets on the bottom and skipping the first hole in the upper bracket.

Just gotta work smarter my friends. No fab needed. At the time, no FBM Stage 2 customers had done this.

You can see my spinout/recovery around the 4:30 Mark. Car was strong in every shift and felt amazing at WOT. I make sure to hit that 8k RPM every single time and got into 5th towards the end of the straight away. Brakes were Hawk HPS and they were horrible and over heated so I will be switching to HP Plus this week as a temp solution for this season (maybe even another brand) until I get a BBK.

I love that power

Haven't you seen the JDM cars with the oil coolers _outside_ the front bumpers? It's what all the cool kids are doing these days. Well maybe they were doing it 5 years ago and I'm just out of touch.

People will certainly figure out cooling, they always do. The WRX/EVO both have turbos sitting right in the engine bay and have issues cooling with upgraded turbos, people at this point have pretty much figured out what you need to do to cool them.

It's doing fine NOW after everything got sorted out. Now we need to figure out long this current setup will last.

sure, since I have limited time I was pushing the car a bit more than I normally do I think..I was a bit late and could only do like 1.5 sessions due to my ABS sensor and spin afterwards

@CSG Mike what oil cooler do you recommend after seeing some of these kits first hand and in action on the track?
