Car Pron - FFR 818

Been waiting for this car to materialize for ages and it's being debuted at SEMA. After my FR-S is paid off, I'm SO building one.

Feast your eyes on the gallery..

Yeah I really like the concept of it but I think they really messed up on the design. They held the design contest and got some awesome submissions and then ignored them all and just made a smaller gtm (also never liked that design). Hopefully the coupe version will be better looking, I'd like to build one but not the way it looks now.

That awkward moment when a friend sends you a pron link and you realize he's turned on by some really weird shit.

Good for FFR doing something unique. I love everything it intends to be. But it's got some wacky character lines that just don't make sense to my eyes. To each their own. :happy0180:

If you get one... by all means share your build with us!

Mechanically, the 818 will be a great car. But yeah, they really didn't choose a good body. There were TONS of great designs offered up by the community, but FFR went with an in-house design rather than the designs that were submitted to FFR's design competition. A lot of regulars of the 818 forum left because of it, including some of the best designers.

I still might build one. I think the 818-R would make an awesome hill-climb/autoX car (Pike's Peak is on my bucket list).

Absolutely hideous. Rather than picking any of the awesome submissions, they went with a blend of cheap derivative cues that don't compliment each other. Kit car styling at its worst. If I was going to build something there are a dozen cars I'd consider before this one.

The 818 was a great concept trashed by a terrible body.

Personally, I like the concept enough to deal with the somewhat disappointing styling. I kind of like the styling, but it definitely doe not live up to the expectations that everyone had. But, there's no other rear mid engine turbo H4 sportscar that can be built fully speced for around 25k. When the time comes, I'll have to make the hard choice of building this or the Birkin S3. Function>Form.
