Also the controller with upgraded cooling has a foam type air filter between the cooling fan and controller case. I thought this may inhibit cooling airflow. Is it now standard?

Can I get a picture of the filter? Not sure why it would need a filter if the box is sealed.

Hmmm, I may need to remove the box from the car and look at the box more closely to see if there are any openings. The pic shows what may be a drilled hole, partly covered by the filter.

I'll look at it more closely tonight. I assume no one else has a filter here

I have the V.2 kit and this is what my controller looks like. I have no fan. And I live in Florida where it rarely gets below 90 degrees. I've never had any thermal issues at all. In fact today is the first day this summer that it's less than 90 degrees (it's rainy and 73 degrees) and you can really feel the difference in power. It's amazing how much better this thing works when the weather is cool.

Engines love cold dense air. That effect is amplified with forced induction, moreso with the Phantom's parasitic drag-less instant electric torque. For me, living in hot SoCal, the engine feels about 5% stronger at WOT when the temps drop under 65 degrees and about another 2-3% stronger at WOT if the air is cold and my batteries are already warmed up.

Also, since my rev 2. upgrade, I have yet to experienced the thermal cutoff. That was many months ago.

YESTERDAY at first use approx 1psi at the first stage of throttle switch and 3.8-3.9psi at second stage throttle switch. After a approx 5 2nd gear and briefly into 3rd gear pulls, I think it went into thermal protection mode, very little boost, voltage meter around 25 (from memory). After a short time, the normal boost capabilities would return.

Last night I took out the air filter foam that had a spot of glue holding it well. It covers a ring of about 5 holes approx 8mm each. I left the foam out. Now all boost is reduced from first use. That is baffling!!!

TODAY every time I use it, the boost is <0.5psi and <1psi for the 2 throttle switch positions.

When engine off, ignition on and ESC on, I test the ESC with the 2 throttle positions. The electric ESC motor is spinning MUCH slower than usual.

My unit is second hand. However, all the wiring harness is new and the controller has been updated to V2. I wonder if my electric motor is causing problems. Especially since my first controller stopped working and required Rob to fix and upgrade it. I will message Rob.

Update ------ Rob suggested all the possible reasons for my problem.

The problem was a connector at the electric motor.

The long story was I rechecked all connections, I reconditioned the dump batteries (takes 24h each). Didn't fix it.
This morning I checked the voltage coming out of the throttle switch. It was working with 0, 2.5V and 5V at appropriate throttle positions. (I will connect procede later)
To enable this test, I disconnected the electric motor connections. I noticed 2 of them were very easy to disconnect. I slighlty expanded the prongs to make the connections snug and tight.

Working properly all day. Feels very good.

The wait is over for the Best tune with power and economy

After another week of trial and error, I've finally got a tune that delivers both economy and power. I've copied the changes to CAL ID'S A00D, A01D, B01D, and D00D for any of you who have matching CAL ID's to try out. For those who want to try out the AVCS changes with different CAL ID's, I've included 2 pics of the AVCS Safe and Normal tables that I've changed to produce my Best tune.
