Yeah I only use car on weekend and seats get dirty from jeans. I put a towel down at first but that is annoying as hell.

Because the thread is polyester conventional dye won't do anything. If you have ever dyed something to have to stitching stay bright white this is the reason. In order to dye it you need to use a chemical dye. '

Before I decided to get a Series.Blue I had planned on trying this. They make a wax crayon like dye that you put on and then add heat from an iron, etc. Should be easier to control and not get all over your seats. However, I don't think you would get good results other than going from red to black like I was planning on doing. Good luck and if you do try and be sure to let me know how it turns out.

I don't know how to make pictures happen. I never use these forums, at least for posting anyway.
I re stitched my interior. Everything red is now orange (I have a hot lava FR-S). The red stitches imho only look good on firestorm raven and whiteout. It clashes with all other colors. So I decided to do something about it.

There is going to be some risk of making a mistake/being sloppy and getting dye on something you don't want.

I would get a small blunt hypodermic syringe/needle and put the dye in it. Very carefully and gently ease a little out at a time over the threads..

It will be very time consuming but the best and most acurate way to do so without worrying about a small tipped brush etc just be easy on the plunger.

I would love to know more about how you did this... namely... how did you go about doing this?

Where did you get the thread? and how difficult was the steering wheel?

Hey guys!
I appreciate your interest in how I did my interior.
To answer your questions: I pulled the stitching by using a seam ripper, it can be found at most craft stores. You slide the seam ripper under the red threads and cut it. Then pull the thread out loop by loop. I primary used a small curved needle for most of it hand stitching everything using the holes that were already made from the factory. The only hard stitched things were the zippers on the back (which I used a sewing machine for) and the red fabric in the shoulder bolsters( also used a sewing machine). I used 4 strands to make the upholstery thread thicker when I threaded the needle. You can get upholstery thread from most craft stores as well. I just matched the color to the zippers I found at the same store and the new fabric for the bolsters which I used a faux leather/vinyl material for. I decided to keep the parallel pattern for the stitching going side by side for the steering wheel because I feel it looked better and was easier. You will need to peel the leather back from the steering wheel btw, once you finish stitching it you need to re glue it down. We used 3m weatherstripping gasket and painters tape to hold it back in place. I would say I'm proficient in sewing as I have done so most of my life but my husband is not. He has done a little here and there for clothing repairs but he has never done something to this degree. I've sewn stuffed animals and full body costumes so I am used to it. I recommend using a sewing machine for the hard stitched zippers and shoulder bolsters as they will get more wear. Hope this helps and tell me if I missed anything!
