Hong Kong Official Toyotal Dealer are now accepting Deposit!

Just got the called from Crown Motors Hong Kong (The official dealer for Toyota in HK)
they are accepting $30,000 HKD deposit and is expecting the car to be around $300,000 HKD. No ETA yet. But I'd expect a pretty long waiting list.

My grey import JDM cars is probably gonna be 10% less expensive than the official cars and possibly better equipped.

Subaru HK has not announce that they will be bringing in the BRZ. So grey import is the only route.

Only 38k? In mainland China cars typically cost 2 times the US price, go to HK, add another 70% or so, IIRC. If it's 38k in Hong Kong, then it's under 20 in America. Sorta unlikely... Or maybe that's the before tax price, which sounds like it's in the right ballpark.

EDIT: So Audi A5 (random example) is about 500-550k HKD while in America it is 37k ish, so if the FR-S/BRZ is going to be 60% of that, it would come out to about 24k USD in America.

I look forward to each country creating a thread when deposits are taken, cars are ordered, when VINs are given and finally when cars are shipped and then delivered. Can't wait for our friends in Togo to get their deposits set up.

Can't we encourage a thread like this to go in the regional forums?

Pretty good priced in HK. If someone grey imports the car to Cambodia, it's going to be 47-50K. :\

Wasn't a member on here telling us this car in Singapore will be like $80k due to taxes?

It's freakin insane. My friend got a Lancer RalliArt package in Malaysia for around 48K only. People in Singapore should move to live Malaysia and come back to work in Singapore.

For the 86, the tax won't be so high.
HK car tax is based on this
First $150,000 is 40%
2nd $150,000 is 75%
3rd $200,000 is 100%
the rest is 115%

Let say the car's INVOICE price is around $220,000 HKD (28k USD)
the tax would be $60000 + $52500
$150000x0.4 = $60000
$70000x 0.75 = $52500

in the end its around 332,500.

We have ways to get invoice on the cars to show a much lower amount than the actual cost to pay less tax.

+1

The OP is entitled to buy whatever they wish to, and more power to them. But a car that's trying to emulate a derived experience at an inferior quality i.e. Porsche Cayman as the archetype, doesn't make sense. I don't understand why people, who can apparently afford a Nissan GTR, would consider a Toyota 86 when there are vastly superior choices available.

With diving gear for instance, I started on the budget stuff but since have invested in higher quality gear and would never consider going back to the bargain basement kit. Both allow me to be underwater but one does it so much better in every single way that it ultimately creates a whole new, better experience.

But that 38k is a loaded 86...the frs is low spec based..figure a couple k less than the $24k figure you cane up with in the USA...more like $22k to $23k...unless scion decides to sell all frs at high spec trim. It's still possible. So then $24k would make sense.
