New Mobil 1 formula?

When I went to buy Mobil 1 0w30, all I could find was some in new packaging touting fuel economy. Some other viscosities were in the customary packaging, which makes me wonder what's going on. I didn't have time to read the specs, and of course it would take some research to see what if any changes have been made. I've been using Mobil 1 for as long as I can remember and I'm a little concerned about whether I'm getting the same stuff now.

0-20 and 0-30 usually have some marketing stuff about being fuel efficient. Probably just a marketing redesign.

Mobil1 has said something like that for a while iirc. Maybe your local distributor had a big back stock of old stuff and just changed?

Could be, I guess. I just talked to Mobil 1 tech support. He said that 0w30 has been in the sort of green-tint packaging for years, but that wasn't what I got the last time I bought it He further stated that the Advance Fuel Economy label is because of the types of cars that it is typically used in. Can't figure out what that's supposed to mean. I'm sensitive about car makers pushing government-mandated fuel mileage over lubrication in viscosity recommendations.

If the car is specd to run on it, it shouldn't really matter.
