Dyno Results From OFT Stage 2+ and engine back exhause. Underwhelming?

Just went and got my car dynoed after I put a new catless header, new overpipe, new front pipe, and an OFT Stage 2+ tune and the results left a little bit to be desired. Maybe I was just expecting too much, but I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I went kind of hard on it right after I flashed the tune. Maybe that had something to do with it? I could try re-flashing and driving it lighter until it has a chance to learn a bit. I did all the work on it a week ago, and have been driving it daily to work since then.

Mod list:
  • Tomei UEL Headers
  • Tomei Overpipe
  • Invidia Front Pipe - High Flow Cat
  • Invidia R400 Catback

Dyno:

I didn't get a baseline since I didn't have time to go before doing the work. Also it was a hot muggy day out. Low 80s 90% humidity. Not sure how much that would effect the results. I'm most worried about the torque dip still being pretty apparent on the dyno. It doesn't feel as bad to me when driving it, but I cant tell if its a placebo effect.

The heat and humidity have a pretty big effect but the torque dip would still be present without.

Without a baseline it is hard to judge. I wouldn't worry about it too much and just enjoy.

It is a OTS tune so its only going to do so much, also Tomei has a lot of mixed reviews, so you may be leaving some on the table. That temp and humidity level will make a noticeable difference though.

With no baseline to go off of its really a shot in the dark, for all we know you could have baseline at 140whp, and then your results would actually be phenomenal, or baseline could have been 170whp, and you barely got anything. Also a big difference between 91-93 octane depending on what you have.

The main concern is that torque dip, typically a catless header and tune pretty much get rid of it, or at least drastically reduce it.

but really, i doubt anything is "wrong" resulting in those numbers, so i would just drive it and enjoy it.

The corn juice will give you what you're looking for. Don't forget to put in the e85 tune after you fill up your tank. Also, put about 1.5 gals of 91-93 for every tankful of e85 to cure any cold start issues.

E85 doesn't eliminate the torque dip; it just shifts the power band upwards.

Lets get you set up on an ecutek tune, with revisions, to truly dial your car in.

A dyno means nothing without a baseline. You should at least ask them if they have a dyno from another 86 -- this wont be perfect but it'll be better than nothing.

They haven’t. I asked. The shop mostly works on corvettes and the like. Not many people tuning imports around here.

Fair enough. That was what I was going to do regardless. Don't want to keep throwing tunes at it and redynoing and wasting money for nothing. It just worried me to still see the dip. Maybe I'll get a custom tune one day. In the meantime anything I could look at on the OFT to make sure its running right? I'm new to the tuning world so I don't know what I'm looking for.

The basic things to look at are IAM getting to and staying at 1.
It’s possible if you just turned car on and did a pull that IAM was still at .7 and didn’t have enough time to go back up to 1. that would cause a noticeable drop in power.

Another thing would be LTFT and STFT combined values should be less then 10% preferably under 5%. If they are really high could be exhaust or vacuum leaks depending on + or -

AFR at WOT I believe on OFT tunes should be mid to low 12s, if it gets down to 11s that pretty rich for NA and 13s is starting to be risking running lean.

Lots of other things. But those are the most basic easy things to look at.

Just went and logged a pull. The IAM started at .7 when I turned the car on, and while driving went to .94 and stayed there. Not sure what that means.

The fuel trims are slightly worrying. ST Ranged from +7 to -15. The LT ranged from -2 to -11. Not sure exactly where in the log i should check the reading to get what I'm looking for. At the start of the pull it ranged from ST @ 4-7 and LT at -4. Once over 2k it went to 0 ST and -2.34 LT and stayed there. I guess that was where it went closed loop?

While the throttle was >90 the AFM was in between 12 and 13 so that seems alright. Over the whole log it ranged from 11 to 20. That was while idling driving normal etc...

I attached a CSV of the data log from the OFT, also https://datazap.me/u/unholypanda/pull?log=0&data=1-13
