2018 USB port weirdness?

Has anyone else seen anything like this?

Periodically, my iPhone will do this charging on/off thing that results in really annoying dinging of the phone. I played with it a bit and discovered that my Android phone (plugged into the second of the two ports) is not charging at all.

It appears that the USB power controller is having issues.

Both phones are using good condition OEM cables, so that should not be an issue.

are you using the usb port for charging? i've always used 12v socket with a high quality name brand fast charger, as those USB ports generally suck and charge very slowly.

Yes, and that is good info. I will move my Android off that port.

Have you checked your iPhone's lightning port?

That thing is notorious for collecting lint and other junk. I recommend gently prying into it with a wooden toothpick and trying to remove as much clumps as you can.

Usually that crap prevents the charger from working all the time.
