Moving the ECU?
After installing my Edelbrock S/C kit back in May, I noticed the instructions didn't specify to replace the driver's side injector cover (or at least, I didn't see where, so I left it off...)
Now I'm curious if anyone has relocated the ECU in the engine bay someplace else. I put a smaller battery in, so I was thinking about removing the stock ECU bracket and moving the ECU to the battery deck area, so I can see more of those nice injectors and intake runners... Anyone pulled this off successfully? I see a hole where I could potentially fit a plate above the battery deck but I'm a little concerned just tapping into my firewall might be a bad idea and not sure how to do it otherwise. I'm not an expert car guy by any means but I'm pretty good at figuring the technical stuff out. https://imgur.com/a/9iHnu |

The ECU is in the cabin under the dash. Do you mean the direct injector driver module?
In which case you want to chop up and relocate a critical piece of hardware for what - cosmetic reasons? |

Toyota/Subaru call every control unit in car an ECU or electronic control unit.
The engine ecu is actually ECM engine control module DI Computer is actually Injector Driver Unit EDU Wayno is correct I think you mean the DI computer. Warning failure to earth the DI computer will give you all sorts of weird issues, it earthed by it mounting bolts and seems very susceptible to issues if not earthed very well. Also its likely mounted their for a reason to be close to DI injectors and have same earth point ie the engine block. Personally id leave it where it is Last edited by steve99; 11-09-2017 at 06:19 AM. |

Yeah, I recall there was another computer for the direct injectors. Didn't know what was it.
I'll probably just replace the steel bracket with an aftermarket one in the same spot. At least that way it won't look like there's supposed to be a steel bracket on the other side. |
