Genome Tuning - Bad Review

I don't see vendor status of @genometuning anymore but hopefully this review stays up.

Let me first just state the positive things about Genome because this review may appear nasty:

- Excellent prices.
- Timely communication and very polite.
- Flexible.
- Knowledgeable about the 86 platform.
- Community friendly.

The negative:

- Falsely promising they can obtain special order product from their supplier.
- Choosing to not refund me in a timely manner (or at all as of the writing of this review) once they realized they can no longer get the product from their supplier.

Genome Tuning has not refunded me for a purchase I made in the beginning of September 2014. I have yet to receive the item. Unfortunately for me I am outside the 60 day window to file a claim with my bank. Genome also mentioned that this specific product is being phased out and is no longer available. I asked for a refund at that moment and Genome has replied saying they are waiting for their money back from this supplier first before they can refund me. I disagree with this - the product has been phased out. Genome should do the right thing and refund me $ 450.00 immediately.

The history:

September - I asked the seller in a ft86club forum private message if they could obtain a special order part not currently in their stock. They said yes but it would take ~ 30 days. So I placed the order.

October - I followed up with the vendor over e-mail and private message. I received an e-mail response saying the item was pushed back till January 2015. Vendor offered me a similar product and I declined and said I would wait for January arrival.

January - I followed up with the vendor over email. I received a response saying the product will arrive mid-February. I said if the product has not shipped to please refund me.

February - Followed up with the vendor over e-mail asking for an update. I politely demanded a refund. Vendor further researches the delay and now learns the product has been phased out for a new redesign and asked if I wanted to wait for the new product. I declined and asked for a refund. Vendor responded saying they will refund when they get my money back from their supplier.

My hope with this review is that the @genometuning will review and acknowledge that they should maintain a customer-first relationship and refund a product if they can no longer get it from their supplier.

Surprised to hear this, had a good experience with Ash in the past, but nothing recent. I see he's active on Instagram. Hopefully this gets straightened out for you. September 2014 was a long ago now...

Still no refund. I'm getting excuses over email. This is ridiculous.

Damn....I'm speechless.

Refund seems appropriate, I don't know why the vendor is being a weasel :/

Hope you get everything sorted out soon, $450 since September 14? That's beyond f***** up!

Not surprised - I've considered them to suck for quite some time. They left me a negative rating for calling them out on lying and piss-poor communication. My issue was for much less and over a much shorter timetable. As far as I'm concerned, the OP has the patience of a saint. I'm not surprised they're no longer a vendor and I won't be surprised when they go out of business. They clearly have no idea of the concepts necessary to be a successful business.

Update.

I received 89% of my refund (in the form of a regular paypal payment) on 3/19 as well as an e-mail stating I have been refunded from Genome. I replied that I have not been fully refunded. Today 3/21 I get a refund for the other 11%, however this time Genome stuck me with the Paypal transaction fee, rather than performing a formal refund process. So, I still have not received the full refund but at this point it is what it is and I'm not going to fight over a couple bucks.

Is genome still in business? I placed an order on their website before reading this post. Website did not confirm order, did not send an invoice, no order confirmation email. Have heard nothing from them, not responding to email, phone, Facebook....nothing. Have started a paypal dispute and no respond from seller on that either. Really frustrating.

Sounds like my experience. Keep after them, the one person who works there is probably "out sick."

I've had to file a paypal dispute with them as well. Some pokemon-looking motherfucker named "Ash" avoided all of my emails until he saw the dispute, then all of a sudden pulled the "i was sick" excuse. I got my money back from paypal. Fuck those guys.
