Saab will get the 2.0 DI

Didn't say that the engine will be from subaru but I'll bet it will be from from Fuji heavy ind. like always...can we get a hint that this 2.0 direct injection that will have 163bhp on NA and 220bhp turbo will be on the FT86 also?

how would Saab get a hold of a Fuji Heavy motor? Isn't Saab owned by GM? Wouldn't it make more sense that its a 2.0L ecotec motor? Similar to the Cobalt? (slowbalt around these parts)

I mean the Ecotec motors aren't to bad, but they have a 2.2L NA motor, thats 155hp, 150ft-lbs, and the 2.0L DI Turbo motor thats 260hp, 260ft-lbs. I just figured that Saab would be using these motors instead of a Fuji Heavy or any other motor.

ew ew ew ew ew ew.

the FT had better have more HP than that. quite a bit more. if the FT has 165hp, it is very doubtful that i would buy one.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they are Ecotec motors. It was the 9-2 'Saabaru' that was Impreza based and that was abandoned ages ago. Saab is using conventional inline 4s and V6's these days.

Edit: Basically that 9-2 was toast when Toyota bought GM's share in Subaru. Hence the new partnership for the FT/R-86/S.

It was only the 9-2, and it wasn't even a Subaru-powered Saab. It was a full-blooded Impreza wagon that GM changed some body panels on. Apparently nobody in Saab's or Subaru's corporate sides were happy with GM's decision. There were zero parts interchange with the 9-2 and any other Saab so dealers hated that, too.

More of GM's wonderful brand-engineering in action. Subaru fans should be VERY thankful that Toyota rescued them from the General.

Prior to that I think the last boxer Saab was like in the 60's and probably a 2-stroke or some other weirdness.
