Mostly I want an idea of what tuners have already developed cam tables for the header.

HRi is the only one i'm aware of and he specifically said that most tuners are going to have a serious issue figuring it out. I looked at my final tune and there are some obscure cam timing events that go against general logic but i could tell a seat of the pants difference between the changes that caused them.

Would the OFT Stage 2+ work temporarily until I could get a custom tune done? I know it's not optimal for performance, but would it be safe just to daily drive a little while?

You could run tuneless for awhile without any real repercussions, except for maybe a CEL. You just won't be getting the full benefit of the header. |

That wouldn't be a great base, considering how different the runners and runner lengths are.

Has anyone used Delicious for a tune yet? I sent them an email about it and they said they had tuned many 86's with these headers but it felt like a bit of a generic response.

I will soon. I put my order in for these Monday so it'll be a few weeks before I get them. I am tuned by Delicious for my Tomei UEL's and I'll be using them for my re-tune once I get the JDL's swapped in.

Delicious Tuning is definitely one of the best out there for this platform, but I will note that the revisions have been a little slow over the last month or so. They seem to be pretty swamped, especially since their recent updates to their tunes, see post# 1193: https://www.ft86club.com/forums/show...=52200&page=86 I think they've caught up a bit though. I would still recommend them.

JDL 4-2-1 EL header
Anyone else get their header installed and tuned/dyno’d yet? Curious to see results, particularly how it compares to the ACE A350 on the same dyno and if there’s anyone FI who jumped over.
I’ve had my header on the car for a few months now, absolutely loving the extra power and the sound. The drivability improvement without having torque dip there is incredible, how the car should feel from the factory IMO.

The "dip" on the Ace header in this graph is an anomaly. Here's a full set of Ace dynos to verify. Long story short, the JDL makes the same peak area under the curve from 6500-7400, which is important if you're shifting at redline and want maximum acceleration. The A350 has a vastly larger midrange powerband. Both headers are engine limited up top, rather than flow limited. For FI results with a supercharger, see this thread, that compares a Ace A350 vs Gruppe-S header, both on a JRSC + HBP + Ethanol. The Gruppe-S header is on a straight E85 tune, whereas the Ace A350 is on a Flex tune with E70. Straight E85 tunes will always make more power than a Flex tune. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...postcount=5027 |
