Wheels Mag names 10 finalists

No surprise that the 86/BRZ is one of them . . .

What are the chances of the 86/BRZ taking out the title?
I am so hopeful as I imagine most of us here are but will they choose something that would be more mass market practical or will they take the awesome fun into consideration as well? Also would the delay in delivering orders effect it?

C'mon December 17th, the wait is killing me to know!

Guys, remember the NC MX-5 won it back in 2005 or something. So we have a fairly good chance, considering the 86 is 10 to 15K cheaper and I would consider it moar practical.

The Toyota 86 got voted National Business Review (a business paper here in New Zealand) sports car of the year recently.

Unfortunately their overall car of the year was the BMW 3 series. Guess that's because it's a business paper rather than a "fun" paper!

Since one of the wheels finalists is also the BMW 3 series it'll be interesting what the winner is.

I don't care if it wins or not. All I know is I am getting the car I want.

Well, I suppose there can be advantages to such things... they influence demand, reducing depreciation costs. But there's been enough good ink for that outcome already, I suppose. Now depreciation will mostly depend on reliability and TMCA's future plans. Having said that, if reliability is up to snuff, I may well choose to just grow old with 'hachi', and depreciation be damned.

got a feeling there will be a few people growing old with it...

If I can, I am hoping to hand it down to my son in 14 years time. Just might have to put a turbo on it before then so he will not be allowed to drive it
