Looking for some advice and tips on engine swap.

Just blew my motor a few days ago not sure which way I'm looking towards heading to with my build. Not sure if I'm just going to stick with fa20 and just have it built or go for a swap. Most likely if I do decide a swap it'll either be an ls or 2jz swap. Want to know how much you guys have spent for a complete swap trans and all and about how much you put into it to get it up and running?

If your budget is under 10K, don't do it.

You will run into unanticipated costs along the way, but it you get the engine and trans for the right price you can make it roll for under 10K. I'm gathering parts and information. Have been doing it for almost a year now. The only reason I'm waiting is I don't want the car to be a paperweight for very long. I want all the parts and a healthy budget for unanticipated parts. I'm still planning on over a month of work, even when I have all the parts.

If you are willing to let the car go for a few months, you can do lots of your own fabrication, and you have a budget, do it. Don't count on kit parts fitting or working. Count on any exhaust components to have sh*tty fitment and leak like a sieve.

Count on another 500 to 1000 for tuning. I'm counting on 500 and I have unlimited time on a flat-rate dyno.

If this is your first swap, don't be intimidated by it, just plan on lots of wasted time answering questions you didn't realize you had.

You just put your turbo kit on a month ago, blew the motor, and now you're looking to do a motor swap.

Just so I give some worthwhile advice. You'll spend minimum $15k on a swap.

Not 100% sure on swap weighing my options we'll see ls swap has always been in the back of my head for this car. Not to sure what I'm going to do with it yet.

It seems fitting to have a 2JZ in the Twins because heritage, but the LS seems like the most common. Personally, I vote for rebuilding the FA20 and turning it into a beast.

I believe as long as you stay below 400whp you're ok. That Reaper guy has all sorts of info on that. I'd probably be happy at about 350 whp if I were to go crazy. Alternatively... if money isn't a factor, I think I saw something about a fancy sequential gearbox.
