I've done a little bit to my AT.
Header, exhaust, lowered, wheels, big wing, some interior stuff and a tune. I love my car to bits. The only thing you'll have to deal with is the "lol auto" crowd. But that's easy to deal with if you're not self conscious and you don't care when fuckboys make fun of you on the interwebz or at meets. |

For the cost of turning your FR-S into a clown-car Rocket Bunny, you can do some actual improvements.

My first FRS was an automatic so from my personal experience I would say go for it, RB, FI, etc even though I have a MT now I have never understood why there is such a rift between modding cars with an AT vs MT the twin's automatic tranny is underrated and the car still obviously retains all of its handling prowess.

OP, drive, determine what you want to do (if anything), research how to do it, save up the money to do it right, do it. Doesn't matter if a MT or AT the same things can be done to both.

Without going FI, doing the following can be very satisfying: Tires Wheels OFT or Ecutek Tune Header CBE front pipe/over pipe if desired Minor suspension if needed RB, in your case, is probably not even worth it. Don't change things for the sake of changing them. Change them if you can argue to yourself that they will serve a purpose to your driving and/or visual enjoyment. |

Just do catback and drop in and enjoy the car. Frankly it doesn't need any more power.

I drive mine in manual mode exclusively except wheen having the occasional bagle or coffee.. then i switch over to Automatic. Many moons ago I used to drive a MT integra type-R and I feel this car is more fun to drive in AT manual mode, if you have to deal with any type of big city commute at all.
I'd suggest try out some cosmetic changes eg. Tint/clear bta/coating (eg. Opticoat or ceramic pro) 4th brake light, first while get used to this car in manual mode. It's truly a fun car to drive and the downshift rev match so well done that I know not many MT drivers can get this smooth even when they know what they're doing with heel/toe. So if you're dad isn't cool with it, you might want to keep it stock until you can afford the car or maybe acquire a car that you can afford and mod that. If your dad is cool or you're braver/more rebellious than I was, mod to your heart's content. Even if the process/end result isn't worth it, it'll be a learning experience for you that you can ultimately draw upon to make future decisions. |

Your car your money. I had a turbo AT a few years back and it was a blast to drive. Build it the way you want it.

If I got a AT, I would go with a FD swap to make it accelerate as fast, if not faster than the stick. I test drove an AT and it's pretty fun still.
