It was, but truth be told I don't know. I think it would be smart to double check the alignment as I plan to, and I'll report back with my findings.

Well, I guess now, that you know of two places NOT to take your car for an alignment -

What is your strut to tire clearance? Do you see any black marks / rub marks anywhere?

That looks like wear from turning while stopped to me. Well, not so much wear as scrapes and scratches in the rubber from stones rolling / being crushed.

Something else to consider is that if the tire is chopping, the struts may be losing their capacity and leaking. I've seen this wear on vehicles when the spring is going most of the working, causing it to hop around. You end up with strange wear like that.

Since you've had caster, camber and toe checked, and are comfortable with them, I'm not sure what else it could be aside something allowing play in the wheel/tire

EDIT: The rest of the world refers to this as " cupping"

My coilovers are 1.5 years old I would hope they aren't going already. I've inspected the struts and haven't found any leaks either. I have learned in the past however that sometimes tires that aren't balanced well can cup especially in combination with stiff suspension. I guess I have a few things I can check.

I didn't look at your build thread and there is nothing in your signature. You see that kind of marking sometimes when there is shit clearance at the fender or the strut and the tire makes occasional contact.

I'm guessing you have no obvious marks or residual rubber anywhere?

Yeah if the wheels aren't balanced I guess it could contribute to this, but they'd probably give you serious vibration. I have no excuse for being so unobservant, didn't realize you were on aftermarket coilovers.

If it's only 1 tire doing it, I would tear that side apart, wrench everything down to be sure it's tight and re-assemble. I really suspect something loose, letting the adjustment suffer through a rough ride but not enough to affect the alignment you're being given.

No rub marks or anything like that, no. I'm hoping I find something alignment related or wheel balance related Sunday.

Forgot to mention this as I briefly checked today after rotating my tires last night. It seems the odd scuffing is most prominent on the passenger front but is also less present, but present, in the rear. Both driver side tires have straight wear lines. I'm slowly being swayed toward either alignment/crappy tire balance/bad tires themselves.

It could be gnomes with razor blades slowly attacking your tires one at a time. I'd considering driving through deep mud puddles

They'll never get my remaining tires! I'll put them in shrink wrap for safe keeping
