All the pricing leaks and estimations from other countries seem to indicate it being on par with the starting price of a Genesis in that country so 23k looks like a good bet.

Posted about this in the Canada thread but it does have implications for US as well.

Reading the fine print it says:

Quote:
Prize value includes freight and PDI (retail value is $1,490), and applicable taxes and fees.
With sales tax in Canada at 13%, I'm hoping the $30k is the TOTAL prize value which could indicate as low a base starting price of $24k to $25k in Canada.

Based on the fact that Scion has a small markup from US to Cdn prices, I'd say $22.5k to $23.5k BASE in the US is still possible??

Or maybe I'm still just lying to myself...

^^ actually if you take quebec taxes (15% lulz) ... then take off the 1500$ freight/pdi ... comes out at 24,600$CAD exactly...

2 scion canada dealers told me it would sell about 4 to 5k more than the tC... estimations seems legit.

those terms definately seem like they are covering their asses

but damn - i wish tax in the UK was 5 - 15 %... We have to pay 20% plus a "showroom tax" for buying the car and a tax depending on how much emissions it has...

I was in Alberta for vacation/holiday in september - pretty cool places (Banff, Jasper, Lake Louise, Icefields Parkway, Canmore), would love to move there

I heard that Canadian sweepstakes rules are really stringent with what you can and cannot say/promise. So I'm pretty sure the 30k is max price with all options included. Ass coverage for when some schmuck goes "but you said I could buy the car for $X!"

Have to keep in mind that the FRS is produced in Japan and the tC is manufactured in North America. Seems like the cars produced in Japan, like the STi, 370, etc. are very expensive in Canada, we have much better trade agreements in the US with Japan. I would not read too much in to Canadian pricing influencing or directly relating to US pricing.

The 2013 Subaru BRZ will arrive in Canada next June. Although pricing hasn't been determined yet, we should expect the base model to check in at just under $30,000. The only thing the folks at Subaru Canada told us was that "it will be cheaper than a WRX."
