I didn't get the pilots side of it unfortunately. I'm not sure if it's a limitation of liveATC or if this guy was working multiple frequencies and the Arrow was on another. Anyway here is a rough translation of the ATC side anyway. If they were both pilots and flew that route often and on an IFR plan so I assume they lost control due to either the weather and/or and instrument failure more than lack of proficiency unless they mostly flew it VFR. The controller mentions moderate precip to 56258 and does mention extreme on the frequency later on to a King Air but not sure where that was in relation. Also weather archive shows only light rain mist and not heavy until 1853EDT about 6 hours after the crash. Temp was 67F at the surface so I assume* the freezing level wasn't till about 10k ft?

https://archive-server.liveatc.net/k...2019-1400Z.mp3

15:09: ATC "Arrow 56258 ident climb and maintain 5000"

17:43: ATC "Arrow 56258 areas of moderate precip extend for the next 10 mi eastbound on your way to AHN?"

19:22: ATC "Turn left direct AHN I'm showing you on like a 170 heading."

20:25: ATC "Are you direct AHN? About a 090 heading from where your at?"

21:25: ATC "I'm showing you southbound turn left heading 090"

21:43: ATC "Arrow 56258 roger"

21:46: ATC "Arrow 26.. Correction Arrow 56258 roger"

22:46-27:21: ATC "56258 wings level" repeated several times asked to acknowledge with an ident and then asked to acknowledge at all.

Interesting that they appear to have stopped responding to the calls.

Yeah I'm particularly interested in what they said around 21:30 or so. Maybe they were trying to avoid weather, maybe declared an electrical failure, or an instrument failure, a medical emergency who knows. The prelim may come with a full transcript.

My gut's in a knot listening to this. The ATC knew they went down but those guys have to keep it together. Brings back a flood of memories listening to all the action waiting in line for our turn to trap. People auger in all the time for various reasons.

What part of how I have solar and backups and such makes it seem like I'm talking about Americans like I'm not one? What makes me sick are the people who belittle and talk about other non-conservative and non-white Americans like we're not ones. That's fucking telling.

What you said that I saw was:

This is why some people have several years worth of food stored. Not me. I figure we're beyond fucked at that point.

It's been like that for years. Zombie movies. Apocalypse fiction, especially Christian. Super popular here.

I thought maybe ADS-B Exchange might have something since that area is well covered by their open-source receivers and the information would come from the plane itself (assuming they had ADS-B Out, which I'm guessing they do). Unfortunately, they have playback turned off because of commercial interests using their gathered data without permission (this is a new development). That really sucks because I liked looking at it for my own flights even though I record the paths on FlyQ on my iPad.

Good drugs and free love will do that to you. I'm sad I was too young to enjoy it.

Of course, there was the whole Vietnam War, racial strife, etc, to deal with. OK, maybe not everyone was optimistic in the 60s.
