There you go!! we have decoded Tada's message in his presentation for the pricing of FR-S. I have no clue about the starting salary in US so I can't comment on that.

we might have lots more information as early as later today/tonight so fingers crossed for more good news.
I am on the same boat here. Really need the back-seat for family use but also like the light-weight coup with RWD for more fun.

perhaps not the miata owners. that car has its own charm. but i can see potential civic si owners consider this car instead...

Yeah, I think so. It is a wonder why we do not have many (if any) Civic SI owner here on the forum.

People! relax there would be for sure more than 1000 units built a year. this cars will sell a lot. If Toyota managed to sell all those expensive Supras in the 90's then this would be a cake walk. Besides why join 2 brands into making a car that people are going to want just so they can't have it. I mean if they do release this car and they make it something that I the average joe can't buy, I will HATE this brands for ever.

I see people saying they would build this car just to get the masses interested in the brand.... I see that working with a LF-A, or any other car worth 300k, but not with this car. If they do I wont ever look at those brands for a car. Who here would go and and buy a Corolla Just because this brand has the car you want, but cant get???

We don't have a lot of options for new cars like this, but they are still other options, So No I can't think how a brand could do something so idiotic like only making 1000 units per year.

Just check how many Lotus Elise were sold a year... If that car can sell, then of course the FT86 can sell too.

You make good point.

im just guessing here, but it could be 1000 units a month? or it could be 1000 "special" units a year
no way that they make no profit on this car.
they might make slight profit, but i DOUBT that they will make NO profit (or a loss for that matter) this isnt the veyron, nor is it going to be a low production car..
just my 2c

Yes a 1000 a month sounds more fesable but i would rather is be 1000 a day.

Therefore, yes it's nothing based on the Miata, but the 86 has a chance that it will get the same AISIN part, infact the ISF and Miata share parts for transmission.

That Execellent Automatic and the Manual is Aisin made, the manual in the 86 is literally the updated transmission of the S2000 as far as Aisin is concerned.
Ok i see that AISIN makes the tranny. I see now..

Firstly, Thanks LEEKY for the pics and insider info. Glad that someone from this forum is able to get info directly from Toyota.

Just a thought, but maybe it's 1000 units per year per market?
For example, 1000 JDM, 1000 USDM, 1000 for europe, 1000 for Aus, etc.. ? Just a thought?

Anybody else have that thought???

Ya, Miata/MX-5's have sold from 5000 to 15,000 a year in the U.S.

1000 a year for the BRZ + GT86 is an insane number... It will have to be 10,000+ probably closer to 20,000 to keep up with demand.

Thats NOT including the rest of the world!

Thank you so much Leeky! Hope you're having a great time over there mate. Appreciate the time you take to pass on info (regardless of whether it ends up being right or wrong). As you said, you're not a reporter, so any effort you put into this is outstanding.

Just a note y'all: Even if the number isn't 1,000 units worldwide each year, it seems that there will be some kind of production limit. That's the thing we should be focusing on from Leeky.

Makes me wonder how many Australia will get if it is across all 3 marques. Subaru don't know if they'll even distribute here so we might have only a handful from Toyota. Given our population, I'd say even 50 throughout the country might be generous. Not worth worrying about until something is confirmed though!
