I digress, any of you guys who were originally thinking FI have any second thoughts because of this? I know it's rare, but the thought of my 86 melting to the ground has me sick to my stomache. I mean, idk what the hell I would do if it burned down. It's gonna take me about 12-18 months to save up the $7,500-$8,000 I need to boost, imagine watching it melt before your eyes? Idk how it works with insurance in terms of them reimbursing the turbo kit, all the extra components that coincide with that etc. Idk, I was dead set on FI and now I'm shaking in my boots like a little bitch. I guess there is always a huge risk going FI, but melting the car to the ground wasn't on my "worst case scenario" list..
Nope. Still boosting it this next summer. After driving a boosted BRZ, I am soooo bored N/A...Wont be running any FF kits though, that's for sure.

most stage 1 FI kits don't require messing with the fuel lines or pumps so they are safe. it's just tuning. This is not the FI systems fault.

Better watch those oil feed lines and upgraded fuel injectors too...

If you can't handle the fact that modding your car may damage something, including it going on fire, because of an aftermarket part design error or failure, installation error due to poor quality workmanship or incompetence, than don't modify it. If you really need that extra power and don't want to take risks, buy a faster stock car.

It would be pretty weird if the car allowed you to raise the fuel pressure beyond what it can safely handle....

I was more disgusted that the poor OP lost his car and the FTHateySixClub was more concerned about who can make the better meme. I hope the OP doesn't get screwed.

This was posted in the FF DIY thread awhile back, and was one of the first of many people complaining about fuel leaks. It clearly shows that the hose included with the FF kit is not the same inside diameter as the stock hose.

No leaks now but the clamp doesnt look safe. Probably going to go out over the weekend and buy a T clamp to replace it.

There's one reason that I can see for why peeps are getting leaks even though the clamp was fastened all the way - the hose that came with the kit has a much thinner side wall (not counting the outer sheath) with a larger inner diameter. See pic attached. This makes it harder for the new hose to get a good seal against the metal pipe.

FTHateySixCrew...LMAO. Honestly if we want to remain safe from illegitimate Tuners/Venders, we should be brutal. Last thing we would want is a situation similar to what happened to OP where the owner doesn't get out of an exploding car in time...

I saw he posted about upgrades to EcuTek for the GT-R on Facebook last night. I had to resist asking him if the upgrades inlcuded a way to diagnose flex fuel kit leaks. Or a way for EcuTek to trigger a fire bottle system based on fuel pressure drop.

True but this car had an aftermarket fuel system modification. If the lines aren't properly sealed, the car may certainly think its pressurized to spec but that spec is no longer relevant.

I'm also disappointed in the internet hate machine but I've seen this happen time and again. It can't be avoided.

Personally, I've been on both sides of Visconti's Jekyll and Hyde personality construct. At times he acted like the soup Nazi from Seinfeld and at others he acted like one of my friends and offered useful assistance. He definitely could use some people skills and accountability but he is really getting roasted here. I hope we aren't scaring other vendors away from this community.

honestly i've been on the fence for a while now on whether or not to s/c or turbo my car. I had a turbo on my integra and that car only lasted a year before one little final tune went wrong and boom no more motor and the shop denied any responsibility(that was taken care of pretty fast). Im not sure what the OP's financial situation is but i agree that i don't know what the hell i would do if my car burned down! I cant even begin to imagine the stress that he is going through right now. Im not pointing the finger at anyone. i'm not saying this is happening because im not sure what is going on, but i'd be damned if a shop had my car it burst into flames and the shop just brushes me off like "its your problem, not mine". shit would have got really ugly. My past and this thread has really set me back even further and i agree with what someone said, dont mod your car if your not ready to take risks, just get a faster stock one! Seriously hope the OP does not get fucked and somehow he can just come out of this situation with just a scratch or two. Good luck to the OP and hope we get to hear back from you on how you came out of this situation.

To think I was actually upset when Visconti decided to take a nap in his hotel room instead of helping me fix my fuel pump issues in the rain in his hotel parking lot. I want to thank him now for taking that nap and not catching my car on fire during the tuning due to an improper install.
