Also, part of me really wants an 80's/90's 911, but of course that's when prices are sky high now. I really want a Safari 911...

Man.. I probably wouldn't mind either, though I'd probably lean 911 simply because it's probably a bit more common so easier to get parts and stuff for upkeep.

I've been interested in the Safari idea since I saw a video about one someone has, where they originally had a pristine 911 and then it fell off a truck or something and the guy ended up rebuilding it to be Safari-style (IIRC).

Doubt it. 70% of the over 1,000,000 911s ever made are still on the road. Porsche owners tend to take really good care of their cars.

Folks have been doing the whole Safari 911 thing for a while now, but for some reason it seems like more and more people are doing it. Kinda feels like it's the next "RWB" fad, ruining all the good ones in the process.

Also, I think you might be thinking of the Safari Alfa Romeo that fell off a flat bed and got turned into a "safari". Yet another car I lust after (I went through a BMW 2002/Alfa GTV phase back in college and ended up with a Datsun 510 wagon lol)

Oh yeah, my bad haha. Definitely this Alfa.

It's a pretty cool idea. I haven't been super into all these smaller genres of cars till the past year or two, so it's pretty interesting to learn about!

Even the ones in junkyards will probably be too expensive for the average enthusiast.

Sad truth... it's funny how folks taste shift, taking the market with them. Maybe the market will level off eventually, kinda like how muscle cars were selling $10k more than usual in the early 00's. I wonder if the 86 will ever have a similar faith, kinda like s2k's and 240Zs...

On the other hand, Porsche 944s and Nissan 300ZXs and looking pretty cheap

Yeah, it's crazy what people crave. I lurk www.bringatrailer.com and clean Integra GSRs are going for over 12k now and ITRs are selling for 30k.

On the other hand, this TT Stealth barely sold for 10k.

Yeah, I stopped looking at BAT since I found myself lusting at more and more cars lol. It is a good site to gauge the current market although I've found that the site itself tends to inflate values ie if it does well there, then the value of other similar cars start to creep up

Yeah, even VW air-cools seem to be shooting up in price. My Dad just picked up a 1962 Beetle that he is excited about.

Ya, I've always had a soft spot for volvo ps1800, most especially the "Fish van" P1800ES. Probably one of the best executions of a "shooting break" I know of. I think there's a red one around the island, I've followed it around a couple of time and it would always reek of gas
