Hey guys, where on earth are you buying parts?

Okay so I bought a 2013 Scion FRS recently. I had a lower control arm break and it caused damage to my cv axle in the rear. So I'm looking at every part store around and to my surprise I can't find any rear drive side axles. Not for my frs or for a 13 brz. So I go looking online and all I can find are performance parts. What the heck? Where can I get an axle replacement?

edit: well i found them on the OEM website but I have to laugh at the prices lol 350.00.. the thing is nearly identical to one off of my work car that costs about 79.99.. lmao

Yep, most of the time if something breaks it's better to just upgrade to performance parts. Stuff like this is why I wouldn't buy anything earlier than 2015 so I could still have warranty.

Why don't you try one of those $79.99 axles from your work car and see how well it works.

I have an 04 WRX with 120K miles. No warranty and no payments for 9 years. No issues either. Car is stage 2 and a lot faster than my BRZ. So if you buy good cars and maintain them well it pays you back despite expensive car parts.

I got a used axle here on this very forum you are crying on about where do you get your parts. $60 for an axle with 10k miles.

Used axles for our cars start at $100 on car-part.com. There are several pages of them that just say "call" for the price, so there may even be some cheaper ones. The prices you find there are often negotiable.

Phew couple rando salty ass people on here.

To the others, yeah good advice. I found used ones to be a lot more affordable. In the end I just fixed the spline on mine myself. Hopefully I don't break anything else anytime soon. In other news, was happily surprised at how easy the differential was to drop from the car.

That's a lot more reasonable than the subaru parts website I was on yesterday.

Also why are you getting so butthurt over my part price comments? Its pretty simple: I'm used to paying a lot less for equally well made parts for my mustang. ALSO i'm used to being able to drive up the road and get the part same day. This all has to be ordered. I mean these are facts. It was a little shocking to see the 350$ prices yesterday.

Me? I could care less about where you get your parts from, but since you added the tidbit about your $79.99 axle off your work car that's nearly the same, I am just sending you best wishes in case it works nearly as good as OEM.

The second part of my comment was mostly directed at Ludwig, who comes in here all high and mighty thinking he knows more about Japanese car parts than most others replying in his thread.

I was just making an observation. I've handled a lot of axles/cv joints and they were pretty similar. But like I said I was staring at a 350.00 price tag. 150 is a lot more reasonable.
