So I took my bike (MTB) to the trails!
I had the idea for this rack for a long time. I must have seen it on a smart car a while ago. Someone here beat me to the punch and was a bit reluctant to provide any information but I figured it out with some improvements.
Bike on the my "RACK"! When I remove the bike of the rack to go riding, I just simply remove (unscrew) the rack of the car and place it in my trunk. This keeps the honest people honest. Haha! A nice close up! and another shot. What do you think? It is very stable as I have used it already numerous times. I have also used for my road bike. Hope you guys like it and if you have any questions, let me know. Thanks for looking.

I have to say I am excited seeing all of the bike racks lately. I want to start riding again and since I bought my fiancé a firebird instead of an SUV I was kinda feelin out of luck.

I like this for a backup if my 2001 pick up truck goes down. Yesterday, one of the front brake pads fell out on truck and I was like... How am I going to get bike to trail? Thankful, no problemo but want a back up for FRS. Also, what about if I want a road trip and stop at bike park?

I am really glad that you guys like this. I will attempt to answer all of the above questions.
I designed the rack myself. Also I am lucky enough to have access to a machine shop. The rack is made from 1-1/8" stainless steel rod. The clamp mechanism is a Yakima Boa that I bought from Jenson Bikes USA for $55.00 shipped, not a bad deal at all. I do a lot of riding, both road and MTB bikes. You can tell that I really enjoy bikes as my avatar is no other than "Eddy Merckx". thanks.

Looks like a pretty good option. I've been looking into the SeaSucker racks. Lots of good feedback on those. http://forums.mtbr.com/car-biker/sea...cs-817820.html

To all those that are interested I am working on it. Always willing to help members.
Sho220- not to talk bad about anyone or their product, but I have a close friend of mine, a local Cat.1 road racer that his bike fell of on I-95 using a sea sucker. That is what he told me when I saw him on another new bike. Just saying. Vmax911- what a better way to lose 20lbs than to start riding again. Just like the Nike ad "Just do it"! cheers!

Yes, that really is a great design -- you should sell them! If the price was right I would probably be interested as well.
