So much for your theory..

I'd say if 7 mpg makes or breaks the bank look for a budget economy car, they can be made fun with a suspension. I spend about $20 a week more with my commute of half hills and half flat interstate than my '09 Yaris, the killer is the premium gas.

The simple minded has spoken.. Let's go back to your post I responded to.

To heavy not enough torque = poor gas mileage.
I responded with my experiences showing you the differences. I'm not the one here complaining about the gas consumption or having to use premium. You need to sell your car and join the yaris fan club forums.

The C7 base gets 17 City/21 Combined/29 Highway. Not exactly the same. I'm getting over 32 after 40,000 miles "Combined".

I'm also guessing if I drove a C7 like I drive my FR-S, the gas mileage would be substantially less and I would have racked up a another several thousand dollars in traffic violations.

Im sure its been answered already but the answer here is simple.

Its the short gearing. At 3100rpm at highway cruise its using far revs than most cars. If you short shift around town or cruise at 80kph then the numbers will be great.

But stuff that, im on e85 and blast it everywhere, averaging 20mpg. Thats plenty enough on relatively cheap e85 fuel and more than 200whp.

I average about 21.6-23 mpg with a lead foot dealing with traffic on a 50-60 mile round trip commute to school and back. I was hoping for better but I am rarely camped out in 6th gear and spend most of my time between 3rd and 5th. I usually fill up half a tank every 2-3 days.

Well we haven't had our weekly new "Why am I not getting Prius mileage" thread so this will have to do.

These seem to have replaced the old "should I buy this car on my salary" threads from last year. Maybe we need to ask Moose Girl to visit these threads.
