So quick update. Did two track days last month, 5 mile at thunderhill and button willow (clockwise with the dragstrip, forget the #). Brakes performed excellently, no heat issues, the pads even still have their paint on them which usually burns off pretty quickly on the stock brakes. This is especially impressive as the configuration at buttonwillow had the 3/4 mile dragstrip that you enter at 90mph after a long sweeper then down to a 3rd gear turn at the end and is very hard on the brakes. I have no data as I find it hard to consistently get, if you can measure temp on track you can be consistent if you are doing some undefined cooldown lap after the checkered it is less consistent.
As for the RR kit, looks pretty nice didn't know that existed. I also don't ever plan on changing my calipers so drilling out a hole a couple mm doesn't bother me. There are arguments either way. I know people who don't like the feel of wilwood brakes (Matt Farah of the smoking tire, /drive comes to mind, but I have heard others) but I don't have enough experience to agree or disagree with them. There is also the point that this kit requires less trust of the company making the adapter, in this adapter one bolt connects the brembo caliper directly to the hub while the other exerts some stretch/compression on the bracket to the hub. Where the RR kit is complete trust that their bracket will not fail, but in practice that may not be much concern. I am not sure which I would choose if I had to do it over I would have to look closer at both. Also I tried to fit the wheels from my wife's WRX ('11 17s) on my car (bringing it in for warranty service and didn't want the R-comps to cause issues) and they would not clear these brakes, they would actually mount but the outside of the caliper would rub on the wheel barrel so not sure exactly how that compares to our stock wheels but probably not a good sign for those wishing to run on stock wheels. |

If these clear 17x9 +35 RPF1's we may have a winner.

Hey everyone,
Sorry I didn't update the thread on my testing. I recently bought a house and started college. However, i have put a total of 5 track days on the car since the kit was installed. Install: I cant really speak from experience on this as CTSVswap.com and Strictly Performance Motorsports did the full install for me. I am at a point in life where I actually hate working on cars. I don't even change my own oil anymore. The fella's at SPM are pretty much family to me, and all of my car prep is performed by their master techs. Shakedown and initial testing: Again, I tried to keep all of the variables very similar. the same EBC Yellows are used, as well as Stoptech brake fluid. Bedding the rotors was started by one of the tech's as he was bringing the car to my place of work. I finished bedding on the way home and on the way to the track. I could feel right away, the initial bite of this setup felt way more aggressive than the OEM kit. Trackday: This was a little tougher than what I thought. These brakes do change up the bias a bit, you will feel the rear end start to move around a little under hard fast braking. ABS kicks in a little sooner as well. However, I felt very comfortable with this kit. The initial bite is amazing, and the car sits down pretty steady up front, release is nice as well. One thing I did note was that as the rear started to float about if i released a bit of pressure and re-applied right before the end of the braking zone the rear would calm down and allow me to dive in on my line. Abuse: As part of the shakedown day I decided to see if I could get the brakes to fade or have issues. I started braking extremely late in every corner at Gingerman. Every corner aside from turns 10B and 11, I did not hit the brakes until i was past the last marker. (it would be very irresponsible to try that crap in 10B and 11) I also tried lighter longer braking to get everything very hot. The only issue that came about was that the ABS would start to initiate a little sooner. I usually do track days with no ABS because I like the feel of it. However, I was trying to put myself in other peoples shoes. Other than that, these brakes continued to take the abuse without any hiccups. For Gridlife Time Attack i also ran with my ABS on due to the fact there was a lot of cars this year and I was not driving 100% due to my excessive partying at night.. Street driving: Not only do these things work, they look really damn cool. I chose to keep the Caddy logo on mine and i can say it makes folks scratch their heads. Im not one for car shows or even car meets, but once in a while i will show up. The brakes on this car are the number 1 topic that people ask about. They also feel really nice on the street. EBC yellows are my favorite dual purpose pad. Very little noise/dust on the street. They do toss a lot of dust at track days though. Conclusion: For $600 you really cant go wrong. They are very aesthetically pleasing, and they actually do perform. If i was turning m FRS into a full fledged track only car, i would more than likely look to Wilwood, or AP Racing though. However, for HPDE days, the occasional time attack event, or even street driving I think this kit is perfect. One thing i would do, is upgrade the rear calipers as well. I think some STI rears coupled with the caddy 4 pots would be a very good combo, and still come in less than the full STI setup. Another thing i may try is putting an even more aggressive pad in the rear to see if i can stop the rear end from sliding about.. I would like to thank Tanner at CTSVbrakeswap.com as well as Allen, Daryl and Jasper at Strictly Performance Motorsports for the chance to try this kit out, even though they knew I wouldn't be BIASED (lol pun intended) towards them. They are an Absolutely fantastic group of people and I will always be taking my vehicles to them. Thanks guys! -Billy

Can someone with this bbk swap measure the calipers for clearances?
I have 17x9 apex racing arc8 wheels which are roomy, but I'm too chicken to pull the trigger on this setup without having good measurements. I know these calipers have odd dimensions more towards the radial edges. i.e. They are known to be tight in the barrel of the wheel on 17" wheels. |

Lol at $440 when they're literally $80 each on Amazon. Powder coating doesn't cost that much.

I bit the bullet and bought everything to fit the brakes. I'll post info once everything is bolted up. The calipers are massive, and I'm realizing that spoke/wheel face clearance is going to be just as critical even in a roomy 17" BBK friendly wheel.

it is kind of helpful. figure out the offset on the stock wheels and add 20 to it. then you'll know a rough minimum offset needed. obviously other factors need to be considered as well such as whether or not the spokes curve, etc etc
EDIT: I looked up the stock offset and it's +53... and adding 20 to it doesn't really make sense. maybe it doesn't work like that after all lol
