@OP

You'd have to pay the full fine, or take it off and pay a $25 fix-it fine. It would be cheaper to just take it off and pay $25 and retint the side windows lol. You don't have to remove the rear window tint.

I got pulled over by CHP for just window tint on my FRS as well. Just for the side windows/windshield and not the rear windows. My windows were tinted 35%.

Should be around $200+ if you don't fix it. $25 if you fix it and get the ticket signed off by a LEO.

The way I treat the tint laws in california... is like a tint tax, because that's really what it is. California loves things like this that don't effect rich people, because they can just pay the $200 or whatever the fine is (meaningless to the ultra rich) and go on their way. Makes it really only illegal for middle/lower class.

If I ever tint my cars windows, I tack on some funds for the inevitable tint tax that I will have to pay. Luckily, they don't ticket for this very often so you can probably go 5-10 years between tax payments.

I've seen some shops that will actually provide a removal/replacement on all tint jobs they do if you get a ticket. They say if you ever get a ticket, bring it in, they will take off the old stuff, you show it is removed for the fix it ticket, drop it back off, and they put it back on free of charge.

funny, every time i need a police officer, they're either not there, or shrugging the situation off, writing a report and telling me to get the copy in 3-5 days.

Well, you know, because it is the job of the police to enforce the law, that definitely means that there is a problem with them enforcing the law. I mean, the only reason people get cited is to "fill quotas" because there's no way anyone would just do their job because it's their job.

At least we know one guy on here who actually likes the popo lol

The police is basically just around to get more money for the cities they work for... First priority is to fill quotas...second priority is to avoid real popo work by taking donut breaks in empty parking lots
