So, anyone interested doing this mod with LEDs will need these LEDs if you want the lights to act stock when not blinking, blink with blinkers when no lights are on, and alternate blink with current blinkers when lights are on. These are non-polarized LEDs, so they work just like normal incandescents, plugged in either direction, and can receive power flowing either way.

They are just about as bright as your normal incandescents, but of course are instant on and off like all LEDs, and will last much longer than incandescents, and use less power.

what if you use led for the parking lights and halogen for the blinkers?

will you still get hyperflash?

I have that setup. It doesn't hyper flash for me but I have polarized led markers so the marker doesn't flash without my parking lights on. Ordering non-polarized ones, will let you know when they come in.

Edit: Got the non polarized LED side marker bulbs and there is no hyperflashing.
My setup is stock turn signal bulbs with LED side marker bulbs

Turn signal and side marker flashes at the same time when the parking/headlights is off
Turn signal and side marker alternates when the parking/headlight is on

Maybe some more experienced modders can comment on my scenario. I want to have my side markers to turn on with parking and headlights on, and to constantly blink at the same rate as my normal blinkers at all times.

1. Use 2 wires to tap into the green and red wires on the turn signal.

2. Take those 2 wires and splice them onto the red or white wire leading to the side marker.

Now the side markers get the power from the turn signal parking light and then when the turn signal blink, they get the power for the blinkers.

The only question is when the car powers up the blinkers on the red wire, does it cut power on the green wire because that may interfere with my setup.

I don't see why this can't work?

Does anyone know if its possible to get new metal clips to hold in the side markers? Looks like one of mine fell out after I swapped out mine, and now the driver side marker pops out. If so, anyone know a part number?

They don't sell the clips separately. You have to get the whole side marker housing. Or fabricate your own clips.

Got some switchbacks install in the turn signals and also got some led for the side. With the flasher relay install the led side doesn't hyper flash. The only downside is the turn signal is yellow while the sides are white. Will try some switchbacks next week.

Not sure. You might have cross something something, I'm not too bright in the electrical field.

On the other hand, I did install some diode dynamics fog light kit and wired it to my parking lights instead of the headlights. I just tapped into the front turn signal. I was having problem with using the power wire from the original wire (might be because the gauge is so small and not enough to power the fog lights. So luckily when I did my side markers, I used a larger size wire (forgot the gauge size) and tapped my power wire there.. All and all I'm pretty happy now that the fogs come on with the parking lights instead of the headlights.

Another way to mod the stock parks to flash is to connect the negative wire from the park light to the positive wire on the front flasher with a single wire & tap.
Cut negative wire at the bulb connector, tape end going back to car, connect wire to cut negative bulb connector end, run it to the blinker, tap blinker positive.
Headlights off, they will flash together. Juice comes from blinker juice.
Headlights on, they will alternate. Side maker grounds out when blinker gets juice.
Parks will work like usual otherwise. Car doesn't give a shiggity.

I was highly disappointed when I bought the car that they didn't blink (not enough to keep me buying her though). When I test drove the car, and did my walk around and that was the one thing that stuck out at me was that people would only be able to see the turn signal head on.

I was really shocked with the turn signals being as low as they are, without being installed in the headlight assembly, that the USDOT would find that acceptable and not mandate the markers blink.

I do have to ask though, what the hell is the purpose of the side markers if they don't blink? Anyone?
