Can't get OBD2 Bluetooth adapter to work for the life of me. Tried with my previous adapter and then purchased one recommended here from Amazon.I even tried a USB one I had lying around. Torque tells me it can connect to adapter but adapter can't talk to Ecu. I've tried on Android head unit and on my phone actually with same results.
Used to work with previous adapter phone but stooped at some point.
I have Open Flash Tablet and just flashed Stage 1 tune again to make sure there's nothing wrong with the port. Any ideas? How can I tell if if there is problem with port? Using tiny blue Bluetooth dongle from Amazon.

does adapter work in another type of car ? if so try using a obd extension cable and plug your adapter into that , the ports in these cars are a bit sus with some devices with slightly short or thin pins.

Exact same issue I'm having. If it was pin length then why is the adapter getting power but no signal from the ECU?

I think some pins get deformed.

EcuTek plug works, other scanners work. Just the dongle won't connect

In comparing open flash tablet to dongle the pins seem smaller and thinner. I bent them outward(away from middle divider) and will test again

Did quick hoon at lunch and it seemed to work. Will order cable as I just received my Open Flash Header and will need to swap in tablet to flash this weekend

I had this happen to me and dug around for a permanent fix--turns out there are a number of threads on the Torque forums about similar issues (e.g. http://torque-bhp.com/forums/?wpforu...topic&t=1693.0)

Looks like it is caused by the Torque application trying to discover the protocol expected by the ECU using a scan, and this scan causing the ECU to bork.

If you go into the profile you set up for your vehicle and scroll to the bottom, there is a drop down menu where you can set the "Preferred OBD2 Protocol." See the attached picture.

In my case--and I'd expect it to be the same for all BRZs--it was ISO15765-4 CAN (11 bit, 500k baud). While connected to the adapter you can go to the "Adapter Status" button on the home screen and you can confirm the setting there. I don't think it would vary based on adapter, but check your car to be sure.

After changing this setting I haven't had a reoccurrence in a couple days of testing.

I'd be interested in hearing if this works for others and if the settings are identical on an FR-S.

It seems like these units are a hit or miss whether they work or not. I had to go through 2 before it worked.

Pins in obd2 connector are smaller and thinner than OFT. Had to bend them out. Got it working but when running car hard it seems to disconnect.not sure if adapter or android unit.

OFFICIAL Torque Android app PID/Misc Thread

OBD2 ports use a standard, if the adapter you are using doesn't fit, don't modify it. You can literally fry your ECU by causing a short. Some OBD2 adapters are just subpar and have connectivity issues. It could be as simple as shoddy soldering of components. I would say it's never worth a $1800 ECU to use a $9 obd2/elm adapter.
