About 2 months and 12 days to go for the Tokyo Motor Show, right? Wonder if it will leak prior to.
Taillights look fancy. I'm guessing the center portion will be the signal? You can now clearly see how thick that camo is. They are def hiding a lot. Eh, those big plastic inserts are not the hawtness. Obviously we aren't going to get the fans from the concept. Maybe future cooling for track models? |

Despite any "leaked" info, I have an EXTREMELY difficult time believing that Toyota would pour their money and resources into developing a new Supra that is inferior to the 10 year old Nissan 370Z.
So I have serious doubts about it being auto only and 335hp. 335hp would be fine however, if the curb weight is kept under 3,000 lb. Automatic transmission only, however, is a 100% deal breaker.

There's no way Toyota wouldn't offer a manual if one already exists for the platform. That would just be ludicrous to leave so many potential sales on the table. I'm with you; no manual equals no sale for me.

Anyway, my uninformed interpretation would be: At this point, Toyota and BMW are on their own in terms of development. All BMW knows is that the Supra will utilize their I4 and I6 engines combined with the ZF 8 spd auto. Thus they have the ability to input the info into the computer for use by Magna steyr - maybe The manual may not be BMW specific. They could go with a different supplier because Toyota has specific needs as it relates to feel and track use. So that is on Toyota to input and send over to Magna steyr. But then again, if the Supra is intended as a numbers car, then a manual wouldn't make sense. No point pretending that manuals are better than a really good torque converter auto or dct. |

Autos sell better and are faster shifting, which makes even more difference if turbo. Manuals have been a dying breed for some time now and the autos are getting so good, it's hard to not get one. The FR-S shifts very fast with paddles!

It's not the speed of the shift but driver involvement.

DSG is only good when it works properly but I guess the same argument also applies to stick shift.
I like those Rial rims tho! |

You shouldn't be shifting while taking a curve at 10/10s anyways. The nice thing about manual transmissions is that it involves every limb of your body, and requires them to work together flawlessly. My left foot would die of boredom in a flappy paddle car.
