vs. Riighht... I don't see how people can think the MKII is sexier. I don't even think Toyota themselves think the MKII is sexier... the only reason it looks like that is because of the ridiculous pedestrian safety regulations since obviously getting smashed by a tall, ugly car, is much more safe than getting hit by a low, sleek sports car. What we have here is a perfect example of the triumph of the profit side of the auto industry versus the passionate, automotive design side of the industry. I'm betting the auto industry lobbies for the ridiculous safety regulations as a barrier to competition to smaller auto companies. This means the bigger companies have more market share at the consumer expense of bloated, ugly cars. Of course this wouldn't be an issue if people weren't so accepting of the nanny-state... Sorry for the somewhat political rant on a car forum - I couldn't resist as the different between these two cars make the interference painfully obvious. The cheap, pretty sports car is dead, ladies and gentleman. Pick up your RX7's, NSX's, 300ZX's, old Miatas, MR2's, FT86's, etc. while you can. Half the people on this forum are still saying positive things about the new concept but the undercurrent of disappointment is undeniable. People are saying things like styling doesn't matter they are focusing on performance now, the photochop thread only has photochops of the back 'cause the front is so ass-ugly, etc. The thing looks like a squashed Genesis coupe for goodness' sake. Where is the crying emoticon? Mark me down as "disappointed." Our only hope is aftermarket fenders. Does anybody know if the fenders will even be replaceable as such? I knew Toyota was going to have to inject some fat into the car to comply - my hope was that the chassis of the car itself was kept low like the concept, with only the outside body panels making up for the difference in height. This way, we could buy the lower aftermarket fenders and have the FT86 return to sexy badassery. Unfortunately, this isn't what I'm reading from the press release. In fact, it specifically says the opposite, lol - that the body is stretched very tightly over the chassis. Whatever. |

Door handles
So has anyone figured out how those door handles are supposed to work yet? Like do you just slide your finger in on the black part and pull or what? lol
