As soon as all these legal fees are up and any fines I have left over that will be the first thing I do with any extra cash.

Get them both.

They aren't a 100% defense. A lot is driving aware of how fast they will let you go before pulling you over.
Understanding the limitations of what your radar detector can do is key. That Uniden R3 makes it almost impossible though to get hit
with a radar with it's reach out there, they can still laser you. Waze, like Ermax said, also is nice since other Waze users
give you heads up on what's ahead.

Source, since the map is from 2014, but content 2019: https://www.ratedradardetector.org/b...adar-detector/

When I once spoke with a cop in PA about it he put it pretty well (paraphrasing as this was 15+ years ago), "I won't pull you over for having a radar detector, but if I do pull you over for something else and you have one, I will cut you absolutely no breaks. Everything you can get ticketed for you will be."

Might be a bit on the nose given the current thread.

That we don't know. Was it in front of him? Beside him with 8 cars behind it? He was in front of it for most of the story. From his different variations on the story it seems to have gone from following him at 70 in the passing lane to getting into the right lane that was traveling at 60 to doing a clocked 92 a split second later. Pretty impressive even for a charger if I do say so.

Well no shit. I would never have guessed that.
Poor guy. Such a rough life with the whole state government picking on him all the time when he has done nothing wrong. Damn that system that expects people to follow the rules.

Fuck this I am out.

The amount of detail on specific parts varied in each story but that doesn't mean he was lying. He seemed to be sure he wasn't the one doing 92 anyway. Did he say something conflicting? I mean it's his memory of multiple moving objects over a given length of time. Just because he added some detail he didn't devuldge before doesn't mean that it's false or meant to deceive. To me his overall story was still consistent.

One thing is for sure, the charger knew he was going fast enough to go to jail and tried his odds at running. Hahaha

I don’t know I read him admitting he was speeding but that they shot the wrong car with the radar. I never saw him say the cop was intentionally shooting the wrong car or that the system is out to get him. He didn’t even suggest that the charger was a cop until others suggested it. It’s kind of hard to mistakenly do 92 in our slow asa car. Especially considering you would need an upshift to 4th to reach that speed. If you left it in 4th or 5th it would take you a month to reach 92.

A college friend got pulled over once for speeding. He had a detector, but the cop paced him instead. The cop apparently switched on his radar just before walking up to the car, setting off my friend's detector. Dude got a ticket, of course.

Right after I bought my first radar detector(Passport 8500 X50) I got hit with a laser by a Florida Highway Patrol bike. My detector didn't go off. I asked him what he used since my radar detector didn't even make a peep and he said laser.
Then we got into a conversation about how accurate it was and if really got me with it. He let me shoot a car with it to see how it works. No ticket and just a warning to slow down a little. Probably a little over the 55 mph safe zone in the 45 mph road by me.
As mentioned before there are bad apples in every industry and I got one that wasn't a d-bag that day. He was younger so maybe he just wasn't in long enough to get the cop attitude? That stop made me respect law enforcement more than ever knowing that they all aren't out to get us. I actually started watching my speed more after that stop so it appears as if he actually knew what he was doing maybe?

Got to watch for those occasional blips on common police bands.

I never really was a speeder but I did learn they are a tool and you have to make a judgement call based on the info they give you.

Mine is getting wired to the bike now. I don't really intentionally speed on it but that things gets up to speed so quick you can't help it.
