I've ordered a GFB alternator pulley, should arrive next Monday. Will update on result.
Would the Gates Blue belt help? Anybody know the correct part number for that? |

I'm using the Gates blue belt, so I'd say it doesn't help. Someone actually recommended that I switch back to the black belt, to see if that quiets it. You have the black belt on? |

I don't have one of these on the car, but it just sounds like normal belt "squeal" to me. Usually resolved by increasing tension or changing to a different brand of belt.
I remember it was common on miatas with gates belts in general. The concensus was that American made belts used a very slightly different profile from the oem Japanese made belts. You might try figuring out who the oem supplier is and sourcing the correct length belt from them. Or as someone else suggested go with a slightly shorter belt to increase tension. |

Ok, I had a chance to sleep on it. If it fits, a slightly shorter belt will definitely get you higher tension. I can go into details if someone wants. Otherwise just have a look at this and consider how much more tension you can get pulling down on a taught clothesline versus a loose one. It's all in the geometry.
It won't be dramatic. This is by design but tension will increase.

I'm not getting any squealing out of my setup. I've got the upgraded idler pulley, 75mm pulley on blower, raceseng pulley set, and a fresh black belt FWIW.

Do we already have a photo of your tensioner position here?
