Bad Luck; need whiteout trunk garnish ASAP help

Hey guys, I recently ran in to some bad luck...

So I purchased my FR-S used in July and the previous owner painted the OEM scion emblems/badges black. It wasn't to my taste so I ordered some JDM toyota emblems to replace them and go for a cleaner look. I had already removed the FRS logo months ago and the previous owner used adhesive to re-glue it onto the car and it was no problem to remove. HOWEVER, when I removed the rear scion emblem first, the first owner must have used hot glue or at least not the proper substance, and the paint is bubbled and chipped and ugly as hell. I was quoted $169.99 to repaint JUST the trunk garnish piece!

I'm too scared to remove the front emblem and risk having the same problem on the front bumper, which was quoted at $504.00 to repaint if damaged.
The toyota badges do NOT cover up these paint chips!
So I figured these are my options:

1. Put the ugly black emblems back on and return my jdm toyota badges
2. Order oem scion replacement badges to cover up the damage
3. Find someone who has a whiteout who has replaced their trunk garnish or entire trunk and buy theirs from them & still be able to use my toyota emblems

I don't want to replace mine with the carbon fiber ones out there, and can't seem to find a good enough deal online for a whiteout trunk garnish. If anyone has advice, I'd greatly appreciate it if you let me know what you think or if you can think of another option.

If you or someone you know has a whiteout trunk garnish or scion badges laying around, PM me ASAP! My car is hideous right now, I can't stand it!

Wow, that really does look nasty.

Seems to me the cheapest option is to order new OEM Scion badges and cover the damage. From a strictly visual perspective, I actually prefer the Scion logo to the Toyota one.

Find another shop. I had my rear garnish shaved and painted for like 80 bucks. (it's a shop I've been working with for years so he hooks me up) but you should still be able to find a good shop to do it for about $100

I'm not sure if this is something you'd consider, but it might be easier / cheaper to just put some sort of trunk garnish over it like this one: http://ft86speedfactory.com/zerg-ind...rnish-930.html

Either way, I hope you figure something out that works for you - it sucks that you have to deal with a nasty surprise like that.

How much is a replacement trunk garnish for our cars?
Someone I knew cracked the one on his tC which is quite similar to this and a quick ebay search had new painted ones for less than a $100. Closer to about $70 or so.
I'm sure there are OEM replacement options out there for the FR-S and BRZ owners too?

Thanks for the info, I'll keep checking around to see if I can find a better deal. $80 sounds more reasonable!

Yeah, I also think that's the cheapest option. I just feel like the scion badges look cheaper like they're made of plastic, plus in my opinion the Toyota ones look nicer/ more "higher end" looking, which is the look I'm going for eventually...

Thanks for the input!

Yeah I looked into those and they're definitely affordable but I can't seem to talk myself into liking the look of the CF garnish on the whiteout

You could always sand the rear garnish and repaint it yourself with a can from paint scratch or one of those places that will mix you up a spray paint can of the OEM paint color. The other thing you could do is sand it smooth, so that you could wrap it in 3M 1080 film it either gloss black, matte black, or carbon fiber. That won't cost you much.

sand it down, and plasti dip the trunk garnish piece with white. if you do it right, people can't really see it unless you mention to the others.

Take it off yourself and take it to a shop to be painted. Have paint code in hand. Less work for them = less money for you.

Thanks for the help, I'm definitely doing this in the future.

For now I'm just going to cover up the damage with oem scion badges again. Currently I'm waiting to hear back from others with pricing on the badges, so if anyone has any they're willing to ship to FL let me know ASAP!
