After all the advice and more research since I really want the 245/40/17 tire I think I'm gonna go with 9" wheel width (and only 0.3 lbs extra!). I will likely go with +45 just because of availability and huge cost savings for me with the deal I get from TireRack (who doesn't carry the +35). If it won't fit with stock suspension then I'll just have to pick out the suspension mod asap
Sounds like I'll definitely have decent brake options even if somewhat limited. Thanks for all the help guys, I appreciate it!
+45's severely limit how much camber you can run without camber plates, and might rub on the LCA or inner fender liner.

IMO, if you're getting 9" wheels the +35 is the only smart option.

Wheels can be spaced out, but not in.

Wheels and tires ordered. Went with +45 offset on the 9" width. It's my understanding that this might rub the inside of the rim ever so slightly at full lock on stock suspension and nowhere else. So once I get them on after Thanksgiving I'll check clearances and take some pics, then decide whether: to just live with it for a few months before we get the suspension, the issue can be fixed on it's own with some careful consideration, to get 3mm spacers until the new suspension is on, or to just bump up the timeline and get the suspension right away.

I'll post up pics in the RPF1 17x9 +45 forum for any who are interested at that point. I got these for such a deal that I'll be happy with whichever of those options I end up taking and should be loving the final product even more once other mods are done too. Even shaved off 1 pound per corner going 2" wider so that's nice too.

Thanks for all the advice everyone, one way or another!

My LF rubs the fender liner at full lock with these wheels/offset, I use a 5mm spacer to clear (I have extended studs, I hear 5mm is sketchy on stock studs). Others have had the wheel rub the tie rod but I haven't seen that at all, ymmv. I have never put them on with stock suspension, some say they barely clear.

Nice wheels though, bangin' deals out there. If I had to buy another set of wheels I think I'd be looking at 949 6UL or another set of RPF1's (not sure what offset I'd want, as mike says, you can space out a wheel easier than going the other direction)

Yeah so many diff combos out there and apparently slight differences in cars, never know what will happen til you get 'em, but I think I'm prepared to deal with it whatever it might be on my particular setup!

Do you know how much you lowered it? How much camber (toe even?)? Which suspension?

Why would you want less flush than a 9" +35? With functional camber there shouldn't be any poke.

Less poke less drag. I tuck my wheels in as far as possible.
