Shops for Clutch Install

I just destroyed my clutch at the track on Saturday and need a new one asap.

Anyone know of any shops that have competitive pricing for a clutch install?

SRD Tempe said $655

The only other shop I know is Goodspeed performance and they wont answer the phone.

SRD Tempe is my preferred place to have other people work on my car. Good price, great service.

Sounds like I'll just have them do it. You aren't the first person to recommend them.

Goodspeed lost my business before they even got it since they can't answer a phone call.

Looking into this myself (have TOB noise) and found Subiworx in So. Scottsdale and FAT (Forced Air Tech) in Phoenix/Glendale as additional options.

If you end up calling either, post back with their quotes!

Called FAT they quoted me around $500. Going to take it to them.

Word of advice, get the TOB/Clutch changed ASAP. I had very slight TOB noise when pressing the clutch in and it went out on me. Granted I was at the track driving it hard as hell. I'm just used to the TOB getting crazy loud before it goes.

For anyone that is curious I had 66k miles on my car and 6 track days. i will post pics of what the clutch assembly looks like once they get it out.

I'm right there with ya - 55k miles and slight/intermittent ToB noise. I'm still within the 60k power train warranty so I figured I'd try to push the dealer to replace it (appt tomorrow) but I'm not holding my breath.

Anyway, good luck with FAT... let us know how it goes. I'll be in line behind ya lol

For both of you, did your TOB noise occur only when cold? I am pretty sure I've got a failing TOB - makes noise with the clutch pedal pressed, not when released. But only when everything's cold, and even then sometimes it doesn't happen (like today it decided not to).

Also curious to know how your dealer appointment goes and if they cover it under warranty.

Yup, my ToB hasn't failed but it's doing exactly what you described - some days it's obnoxious and can be heard over music, other days it's non-existent. Always when pressed - otherwise it's not spinning

I'll loop back with what the dealer says. To be honest, I won't even have them check unless it's making significant noise tomorrow morning... I'd rather not plunk down the diagnostic fee for "tech couldn't recreate the symptoms."

25k DD miles and 10 days on track spanning between 250-300whp and my oem TOB/Clutch are still hanging in there. Have had the new one sitting in the garage for over a year now. One day he will see action I'm sure.

Regarding goodspeed you have to leave a message if they don't pick up the phone. Many times I've been there where all hands were in the garage, and not the office.

The noise started exactly as you described to the T.

Ended up having FAT do the clutch, flywheel, and perrin motor/trans mounts intall. Cost me $700 for labor.

Very happy with the service and they got it done quick.

Also anyone on the fence about a lightweight flywheel, do it. The car is much easier to drive now and gets into the powerband very quickly.

Shit, meant to update this. Dealership ended up replacing my TOB for free as a 1-time "courtesy." I read that as their subtle acknowledgement of the issue (and they tried to upsell me on replacing the flywheel and clutch while they were in there).

I didn't spring for the flywheel and clutch replacement, but did have them replace the spark plugs so I can stop thinking about it.
