Now obviously, if the car is a dedicated track car, then those wings clearly aren't rice. But here's the thing. There ix really no way to tell if a car on the road is driven at a track or not. However, based on my first hand experiences, the vast majority of cars on the road with big wings are purely for show and not actual use. Therefore, in most cases, big wings on road cars is rice. This is why I consider most wings on DD's ricey, even if a small percentage of them are actually seeing functional use. The sad thing about all of that is... I'll eventually get an aero kit at some point (including wing) because I will be ocassionally tracking the car on a daily driver. Most people are gonna think I'm a ricer... Good thing I could care less what others think of me. |

You guys, there is no definition of rice, only the emotions it provokes. It is an abstract. More of a philosophical concept than a physical one.
Like love, there are multiple versions of rice. 1. Non-functional/Pointless RICE. 2. Garish/Inappropriate/Tacky RICE. 3. Deluded RICE (aka F&F RICE, random "What were they thinking?!" RICE). 4. Cheap/Knockoff RICE. It can be all of these things or just one of them. Or none. For example: This is garish and can be considered RICE under rule 2, but not under rule 1 because of its supposed functionality (and who doesn't love this car): These can qualify as RICE under rules 1 and 4, but not 2 and 3, because while the functionality and originality of the look are lost, they are still not ugly, and definitely not random: Functional? Maybe. Cheap? No no no. Garish? Hells yeah: Finally, a clear qualifier for rule 3 (I would consider $1 expensive for this mod, so I suppose it doesn't adhere to rule 4): This is why the typical rice mods are stickers and Pep Boys spoilers. They fit into almost all the categories. Stickers are non-functional, often tacky, pointless, and usually cheap. Spoilers from Pep Boys often reduce functionality, very tacky/garish, are usually inappropriate for the vehicle they are on, some put on with little to no thought about the car it goes on, and and cheap, often knockoffs of the well developed racing spoilers. Discuss. |

Possibly a flip up kit? Though IMO Rear plates don't bother me much at all since manufactures design big gaping holes for them. The front is a different story.
