Eh, I'd disagree. I think purchasers of the performance package proved that there is a segment of the market that wants a.. somewhat pre-built car from the get-go, rather than buying a stock Premium/Limited and then fully customizing it to their preferences.

How many people on this thread so far have said they'll replace the STI pink springs with.. I don't know.. RCE Yellows?

Bad example but explains it well enough, I think.

If these performance packages (like PP or tS) can offer to the platform better sales and an extension of lifecycle, then it is fine with me. At least it looks to express more people than the limited edition models. My objection is just on where the car industry is going and unfortunately that STi is now following. Many people nowadays want to buy a sports car and expect to find the luxury and premium feel that is available in different categories. So, it is more about look and feel than actual results. Personally, I would prefer STi to work hard on providing a new engine. This year will race again with the same and same engine. Anyway..

Performance package is a bargain. 1200 for brembos and sachs dampers? I mainly got the performance package for the brembos.

tS is a different animal. It's $5000 more MSRP. For someone who paid well below MSRP on a PP, people could have anywhere from 6-9k more to spend on a PP than a tS.

Someone could fit more power in there, better suspension/wheels, or even expensive aero or widebody.

When the argument was that we couldn't have a boosted BRZ because the price would go up too high, yet we see a BRZ as the same price of a Base STI, it's hard to believe how many people are purchasing it.

don't get me wrong, the purchase is good. I want the 86 platform to continue.

Everyone spends their money differently, I'm just not one to buy a factory BRZ with even better handling for another 6-9k.

Considering you're getting about $4500 worth of aero, $600 flexible draw stiffeners, not to mention flexible v-braces, 18" wheels, Pilot Sport 4 tires, and the entire interior from the BRZ STI Sport on top of the performance package, the tS is a great deal if you had been planning on doing a few of those mods to begin with. I wanted oem aero, and had been originally thinking of getting an 86 and getting the full TRD aero for it. However, the tS has the Subaru equivlant pieces for way less money, leaving financial room for things that I still want to eventually change out.

I think DSOmegaX spent around $15-20k on top of his BRZ to make it into a tS replica.

There is a large group of people who don't want to modify or change out parts or test different setups. And that's fine. You can be an enthusiast and not modify or wrench on cars. The TS is built for this demographic. Anyone who was going to build and modify this car wouldn't use the TS as a base (unless they got money to blow). The TS is a good turnkey factory setup for those who want a good track car that can be driven daily. The price difference between a limited with pp and the TS is about the same as it would cost to buy all those parts and have them installed anyway. The parts may be a little bit more actually, and if you're not going to install them yourself, than you're looking at around 4-6 hours or more of labor to install all of those TS parts on a non TS car (maybe even longer).

I am happy that we are getting a TS, mostly because I do want a couple of the parts that we previously couldn't get due to being vin-locked.

I was disappointed our model didn't include more STI branded stuff and logo's like other regions have/previously had, nor did it come with Recaro seats.

The TS was a miss for me, but for some people, it's exactly what they want and the premium in price is worth it for a limited production model, even if it's not exactly what everyone hoped it was.

Is there more functional aero than the wing? The front lip and the rest of plastic is cosmetic only. APR's most expensive rear wing for our cars goes for $1700, for comparison. I don't think you can make a case for it with economics, but if you really just love everything about it, that's cool. I still recommend a header & tune, tho

Might have signed some kind of NDA and made the mistake posting without being too anonymous about it. The port guys might have some kind of contract not to share too much/at all.

The other pics were an outback and normal cbs STi. No other BRZ pics.

Edit: just checked, his pic is still up.

The kit is the same as the series.blue

"the 2015 BRZ Series.Blue gets a functional aerodynamic kit from STI containing black front, side, and side-rear under spoilers, that contribute to additional front downforce, while new underbody panels reduce the car's coefficient of drag (Cd) from 0.28 to 0.27."
