Toyota 86 Sub and Headunit Help

Hi recently tried to install a sub in my 2015 Toyota 86 GT, when I pulled out the head unit there was no RCA connector in the back.

Ive been told that I need to buy a new head unit but I was also wondering if there is an adapter or something similar to be able to fit an RCA plug?

Would this do the trick? http://axxessinterfaces.com/index.ph...roducts_id=110

Any advice would be great!

It might, however I wouldn't risk it myself and its marked dealers only.
I recommend reading this thread:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42239

Which gives info on the OEM amp connections in the back. You can wire in a regular run of the mill LOC (google this term), and then you have your RCA outputs in the rear which is way more convenient than running them from the front.

I recommend getting male and female metra harnesses to make this easier and 100% reversible, but that's technically optional.

GL, let us know if you have more questions!

I think you are misinterpreting their use of the "for dealers only". That isn't about the adapter, but their contact page since they don't sell directly to retail. You can buy this from multiple vendors, including Amazon.

oh, fair enough. TBH I looked for about a minute before going with the suggestion of just using a regular old LOC, as I am familiar with them.

That will work but look for a stereo one. The bass out of the head unit will be on both left and right channels be pending on the music. A typical sub amp will sum the 2 in the end, but if you only get signal from one channel your bass may sound only like 1 channel on some music. I recommend pac audio loc based purely on my own experience with it.

Spend 60 bucks or so and get the Audio control LC2i converter. High quality and does a great job taking the signal and converting to great bass signal.
