It's not just for grip. Having more volume inside the tire and tighter side wall make for a much more stable tire. I can tell you that the frs can definitely make use of more rim. Whether you want that improvement is something I can't argue with

Why are you worried about saving 2 or 3 lbs on wheels if you are going to bolt on brembo's and add like 10lbs to each front corner?

just curious..

I think the brembo BBKs weigh less than the OEM brakes.

You know when athletes put on muscular weight its good, but when they put on fat its bad? That's like this. Saving weight on the wheels while increasing breaking capabilities is a win win.

I have done the weight comparisons, and going to a lighter wheel and the brembo front brakes can basically equal out at OEM weight if you do it right.

umm.. not in this case. The rotor and wheel are tied together and are both rotational.

The stock BRZ rotors are 17.1 lbs each. I think the Brembo is like 26 lbs.

So you're gaining 9 lbs of rotational mass. Plus.. I believe the Brembo calipers are couple lbs heavier than the stock calipers so you're gaining some extra static mass as well.

Are you sure Brembo's are in increase in braking capability? Have you done any bias calculations? They will certainly keep cooler and resist brake fade. But based on what I've researched, they harm the brake bias and could actually lead to longer stopping distances.

Just curious...

Which Brembo? Brembo BBK or STI brembo swap?

Ah.. that might be the source of confusion.. I assumed he was thinking about the STI Brembo conversion.

If it's the GT BBK, then I think the 2 piece rotors are pretty close in weight to the stockers.. and that would be a good option.

I think Apex is making wheels for our twins now.

I had them on my BMW and they were one of the lightest available.
