That looks very, very cool!
Oh, how I wish I had the balls to cut into my fender...

I'd guess the structural integrity of the fender isn't seriously compromised by this, any one else having thoughts on that?

There isn't much structural integrity in the fender to begin with. I know this from replacing one after an accident. I had some fun with the old one that was only crunched up on the front corner.

Also, I'd recommend removing your fender if you have the time and space to do so. I think it would make it a lot easier to handle all of the cutting.

It's normal when you use the sites upload feature. I generally use imgur, but who knows how long those will stay up for (they have to get 1 view per 6 months or they get deleted).

If I did something like this to my fender I would put in the extra effort in sanding down the areas that were cut (exposed metal) and applied some anti-rust black primer. I am sure the last thing you want is to have rust stains dripping down the side of your car.

I assume he covered the exposed metal from the quote above.

I decided to do a bit of a test today to see if the vents actually worked at speed. I had found an old cassette and used a bit of the film(?) From it to make a crude streamer and tied it to the vent in order to display air movement from/around the vent. I wasn't able to make video yet, but when I was cruising at 75 mph (on a highway) it appeared that air was flowing over the hood and down the side of the fender. The film from the cassette tape was pointed down, but still away from the vehicle. I was also monitoring ambient air temperature in the front of the engine bay compared to the intake air temperature. Those were but a few degrees off from each other compared to before, when there was about a 10 degree variance. In conclusion, it is my opinion that this does work, though maybe only slightly. I don't have very many hard facts, but from what I've observed, I think it's worth it.

I myself never ended up getting the chance to do any remotely "scientific" testing although I will say it was definitely worth the aesthetic improvement

I was going to make some sort of comment on how fake vents are for mustangs or some other car that has followers that rag on imports, but I didn't want to ruffle too many feathers.
