I had constant chirping for the first 3000 miles. Then I switched from Shell 92 octane with "up to 10% ethanol" to a 90 octane sans ethanol from 76. Chirping was gone the next day. Crickets have not returned since that day and I'm at 5000 miles now. I'm blaming the ethanol.

I wanna add that I did have mine covered under warranty. Since then I've noticed that when I drive long distances and or drive pretty hard it will come back but shutting it off and letting it cool down makes it go away. Also, using lower grade gas such as Alon or Valero makes it more prevalent while Chevron will make it go away almost entirely.

I had to run mine on 95 for a while and chirp started and then went. I usually run 98 with no problem. I will have to try 95 again and see what happens. Australia.
Im more concerned with the clunk in steer column at low speed over rough roads at this stage. Toyota AUS denies !!!

Noticed the other day that I've got the crickets finally... Owned the car since May 2012 so it was a bit of a surprise to see them turn up! Will have it addressed when I take the car in for its next service.

For the record I've been using 93, non-ethanol fuel... Except for the fill up where I heard the crickets so I guess since I just filled up with non-ethanol again I'll keep my ears peeled.

This poll is in the TSB/warranty subforum.

Also, I'm getting the new fuel pump from the TSB this week so I'll let everyone know how it goes.

7000 miles on same 93 octane-no chirps, 1500 miles on E85-still no chirps. Think I may be a lucky one (side note, at 6500 ft above sea level and always have, no clue if that has helped)
