Minor issues after J02 recall...
Hmm.. I know there are many threads about the J02 recall; however they tend to fall into three categories:
1) Major failure after recall... 2) No problems after recall... 3) Should I do the recall... I may have overlooked it, but is there a minor issues after recall thread? I had the recall done about 3K miles ago; engine is running fine... However the car has been back twice due to an annoying small oil leak resulting in a "burnt oil" smell after the car warms up. The first time they put the car on the lift and didn't see anything and said: "It is common for a little oil to end up under the manifold - it will just burn off" But the car is back in the shop now... it still reeks of burning oil after a 15 minute drive. No obvious leaks; nothing on the ground.

Update: found oil dipstick tube seal was bad...
If this is the cause then with a few thousand miles more I will claim success!

i went back because it just didn't sound right on warm starts and when they dropped the oil pan the pickup was partially blocked. They also changed the belt and plugs and even though it's cold and we're on winter gas I'm getting summer mpg and the thing is pulling stronger than ever 5k after the work was done. So for me there was a minor issue but overall (so far) not a bad thing to have had done.
Is the minor issue caused by the loaner car I had when my car was in the second time worth a mention? |

A minor issue I neglected to mention with mine is that on my second engine, the valve cover seals were weeping oil. They also put in motormounts from the other engine that were in worse shape than mine. They also didn't bleed the air out of the coolant system. They also didn't use the new spark plugs I bought and had them replace on my original engine. They also scratched up the top d4s engine cover really badly. They also - I'll stop.
