I think the tutorial pic shows a filter that has an UP arrow for orientation, and some other filters may have an arrow showing flow direction, which according to Paiser should point down.
my 2c.

Paraphrased from the tutorial

If it is a car specific filter with an orientation arrow then yes. However some of the alternate/universal filters listed in this thread or available elsewhere may just have an arrow showing which way the air is supposed to flow through the filter, which would be down for us. I didn't pay enough attention to the earlier post to see what filter he was using/asking about.

*edit after going back and looking, the tutorial pic: Is vehicle specific, and the arrow is for orientation, showing which side should be facing up. As it says UP.

The post by RL BRZ is a different filter, maybe universal, but it has an arrow for air flow, so in this picture he has it correct.

FRAM air filter

From previous posts before, the Honda Fit and our FRS/BRZ airflow for our HVAC system is the same, so make sure you have the arrow pointed down if the air filter arrow is direction of flow. Ignore the flamer.

OEM air filter specifically wants the filter placed where the air is placed upwards, but the OEM air filter sucks ridiculously. I think OEM cabin filter is the cause of many people having their HVAC system smells like crap.
