Well I really want one of these cameras, and that is a great price, but I'll need to do a bit more snooping on them before I bite the bullet.

Anyone know what firmware this one comes with?
e-mail sent to them to see what firmware, and to ensure this will be an american version (have seen other complaints on other forums about getting korean domestic versions so thought I would check that too). I hope to have a response in the morning tomorrow.

Is there any way to get that damn log in/sign up window to fuck off?

I thought it was because I manually accept cookies but nope. I can't abide by a website that does that crap. Reeks of arrogance when a company assumes you will blindly hand them your info just to see what they're on about.

...no, not that I've found. But... http://metareddit.com/r/Massdrop
That is most of the information from their site anyway. And it kinda explains the login thing.

I certainly appreciate you finding this info, but the fact they don't make it available, even under their FAQ is bad. The fact that I, as a customer have these questions and another customer has to be the one to track the info down is even worse.

Doesn't bode well for how they operate IMHO.

Meh, no problem. They are still new, perhaps they havent thought of that or realized that yet. So far, they were quick to respond to the chat they had available and I couldnt find any complaints in the quick search/digging i did.

I am learning more about them as I go too, so i dont mind doing some research on them. BTW: From their facebook page:

Is there really no way to get rid of the floating "sign in" window on your website besides actually signing in?

Massdrop: Hey xxxx. Unfortunately the only way is to sign in. Keeping our site "private" has allowed us to get some awesome prices on the things that our users want. This was done to meet the requirements of several suppliers of ours.

Whoa it took a few days but looks like thanks to someone's bump this threads finally alive. Yeah I hope they do extend the sale and that it's not the Korean firmware. I'm still on the fence because it have such little info but if they can clear that up it would be great, thanks to whoever asked them about it.

They responded:

Will | Massdrop replied:
Hi there!

The blackvue comes with the US firmware and it is the most up to date version blackvue will ship us.

Have an excellent evening!

-Will

So, US firmware and up-to-date. And they get the product directly from the manufacturer.

Here a link you guys might want to check out

http://dashcamtalk.com/dash-cam-comparison/

They don't recommend this dash cam

The one I have the DVR 027 is the cheapest ($60ish) and best rated. I recommend it actually with my only complaints about it is the mount doesnt stick on nearly as well as I would like and its huge. I modded mine to be much smaller but the mount still doesnt stay in place when its cold or super hot out

I've seen this one work just fine down here in Florida, so I'm not really worried about it. It seemed to have great video quality and the person who had it highly recommended it. Interesting article though.
