Years. It can take years. The alone time is especially valuable. Being married in a new place is a foreign dynamic to me. If I really think about it, I can imagine that I wouldn't have discovered many of the things I did otherwise.
It's an adventure either way.

I do have Subaru 4 pistons on Enkei VR5 (17x8 +45) for winter and Enkei Raijin (18x8 +35) for summer and it clears without an issue. Not sure which bbk you have, but there are very limited bbk that clears 17's, so it'll be tough for sure.

Besides dual pattern wheels, I couldn't find any wheels in that size that have a low offset.
EXCEPT THESE... Don't think that they are going to be popular though...

Stoptech ST40's with 328mm rotors. It clears the stock wheels with 10mm spacers and clears my 57DR's in 17X9 +38 by a lot.

OEM w 10mm spacers... so offset would be +38. I would assume all the wheels that's +38 and lower wheels should clear it, but of course, wheel designs can make a difference (ex: RPF01 +45 vs +35)

Yeah that has been the battle, anything that the PP brakes fit I should be able to as well. I can find 17X9's all day that fit. Advan does make the RGD2 in 17X7.5 in 5X100 +38. Spoke design looks like it has brake clearance.

Yeah, 17x9 are a bit more easier to find. I do own Weds TC105N 17x9 +35 for autox & track, but for daily, rather not get my steering wheel pulled by wide tires, so that's why I want 17x8 & put like 225/45 tires on it. I also thought bout BBK as well when my stock caliper seized on me. My BRZ is my daily and most of BBK doesn't come w piston cover thingy (forgot the parts name), so in the winter time, I'm doomed (it snow & road get salted)... this is why I went w Subaru 4 piston calipers instead. Not really an upgrade other than visual upgrade & give me more options for the wheels.

@ichitaka05 I named a system after you in NMS. It was already automatically named ichichi by the computer so I fixed it in your honor.

For just about all the reasons hum and the others mentioned, but others as well. Even trying to fit in by wearing similar clothes and stuff won't work off the bat. I'm sure to them you talk a bit differently, sound a bit different. Might even look a bit different. It honestly just goes back to the usual thing about respecting others and not minding others being different (not so much you, but the other guys). It's possible they just don't have much exposure to 'outsiders' very much. Which means it'll be more difficult for a while to lose that image. Personally I moved from SoCal to NorCal when I started freshman year and it was the worst. Kids being kids and all, but everyone had their best friends and cliques already from middle school. Just about everybody liked different music (R&B/rap/hip hop vs SoCal which was much more pop, rock, rap, etc.). I'd grown up listening to a rock radio station named KROQ and literally nobody in my new school were the types to really be into that music (it changed as they got older, but at that age they were pretty stuck in their ways). The common sport nearly everybody was into was basketball and the Warriors, whereas back home in SoCal I knew people into basketball, baseball, soccer, football (like friends who did little league baseball or whatever it's called for football). Nobody in my new area played football and not many were skaters/surfers, etc., like they were in SoCal. I guess my long point is, you and them are going to be super different for a while.. possibly even like oil and water. Might not be easy to just blend in from the get-go. But, over time you'll learn a bit more about them and they'll hopefully warm up to you. But also, like the others said, you've been able to make some new acquaintances elsewhere so that's great. It might just not be easy or pleasant to make friends out of this particular group. But just give it some time and see what happens. For me I didn't really have solid friendships til sophomore year of HS. Granted I've always been more introverted so I'm sure that played a part, but suffice to say these things do sometimes just take time.
