I don't know what that means anymore. The newest BMW I've owned was a 2002tii.

Numbers should ramp up this month, there are another 1,444 in dealer and port stock. That sounds substantial until compared to historic Toyota stock levels of 60 days supply that might mean there weren't many pre-orders to deliver.

Next month will have more reliable data with massive Toyota ad presence this month on all series that will bump showroom traffic that hopefully translates into Supra upsells.
It is odd how we are talking about sales... after the sales, like the car is sold out, right? So even if those are mostly dealer purchases, the cars are all sold as far as Toyota sales are concerned, right?

The 320 number is non-fleet retail sales to end customers.

There were also 289 Supras in dealer stock nationwide at month-end that are considered wholesaled to dealers but doesn't count in the published sales numbers. The 289 are part of the 1,444 total Supras in dealer and port stock. None of those count as sales until reported sold by the selling dealer that may or may not be the dealer getting the car depending on whether they trade it to another dealer.

That happens often when, say, a metro dealer has a sold order on a particular Supra that was allocated to a rural dealer before the metro dealer preferenced it as a sold unit pre-allocation. So the rural dealer swaps their Supra for maybe a couple of Toyota's hottest seller, a RAV4 Hybrid, and everyone's happy including the customer.

It happens that way because, in the name of fairness and potential legal challenges, every dealer must first be offered one of any new model before a second may be offered to any other dealer.

A dealer may turn down any or all vehicles offered on an allocation, something not seen for years, but I'm guessing before too long rural dealers will be turning down Supras when they can instead get two RAV's and make more gross profit with quicker turnover than hoping to score selling a Supra in a small market more attuned to trucks and SUV's.

Saw the MkV in person today... didn't grab me aesthetically like I thought it might (was on the fence looks wise from photos.) It's nice, but just not my cup o tea styling wise... I can appreciate the engineering that's gone into it, but looks wise... it's just... eh...okay.

When I went through the BMW factory in South Carolina they were building cars as the sales came in. It seemed like it would be inefficient like it would be better to build fifteen black X5's then fifteen white X5's...etc, but they said they build them as the order comes in with no discrimination between any customer, saying that they consider the dealers their customers just the same as individuals. I bring that up because it just seemed like the manufacture would consider dealer purchases as sales with no buy backs or further obligations. Obviously they care if the dealers sell the vehicles because they want the dealers to buy more cars, but doesn't it seem like when they said the Supra was sold out that it only meant that all the Supras had been ordered, but that could have been to dealers and individuals. Why track the secondary sales from dealers to individuals? If those Supras don't sell then can they be returned?

Kinda reminds me of going to a San Francisco Giants game where they always announce proudly that they sold out another game, and we look around, and there are hundreds of empty seats. Yea they sold out... to Stubhub or secondary licensed sellers, but not to individuals that actually go to the game.

I'm looking forward to checking out the car in person. Like I have said in the past, the Supra might look better in person than in pictures just like how it was with the Dodge Viper, but still be visually off.

This thing is made to modified. Specifically, it seems like it was designed with a wide-body kit in mind. The bubbly, but chopped off fenders just seem ripe for a wide-body, and once the aftermarket gets a new front bumper on this thing then I think it will come together. Just give it time.

Generally accepted industry reporting practice is to only report sales to retail and fleet deliveries. Otherwise, there could be a situation like the SFG's with empty seats compared to XYZ Motors reporting segment leading sales by counting unsold thousands still at POE's.

They do track dealer and port stock separately for production, incentive and marketing planning. This month Toyota will be advertising everywhere, calling it "Clearance Month". August has traditionally been a thrust month. It's all hands on deck from corporate to dealer lot attendant to get the iron out the door. Now they have a few thrust months per year to incentivize units on the ground to make way for new model intros and changeovers throughout the year.

Talking 86 inventory for example, nationwide there are 983 in dealerships and ports that doesn't sound like much, but on a daily sales rate basis (retail and fleet deliveries only), that's a 129 days supply compared to the industry standard 60 days supply and Toyota typical 30 days supply (credit just in time planning). That triggered the new $2,500 customer cash back, APR, and fleet incentives to move 'em out, the biggest 86 incentives in memory. For comparison, RAV4 Hybrid has a 19 days supply and $0 incentives.

No previously allocated vehicles may be returned.

I don't know if it is the angles or the lens, but when I see the car in some videos like this, it just looks awesome. It definitely makes me wonder if the Supra or the Cayman will be in my future. I had two MKIVs and the BRZ, so the Supra is up there, but I have also been dreaming of a Porsche my whole life. I have always had black too, so this looks so good, especially with the red seats. I just hope a manual isn't the deciding factor here, but it just might be.

I think black or white looks the best in the mk5 Supra. The red interior looks so damn good with black!

It is underrated, but it isn't off by much if we consider that the dyno looks close to 335whp and 365wtq in the flat areas. Yea, engine versus wheel is different, but there is a nice flat spot right around 335whp and if it wasn't for that hump low in the rpms then it looks somewhat flat around 375wtq, and probably depending on the temps and the altitude, I bet those numbers are accurate, just again, they are to the wheels versus to the engine, yet I think those numbers make more sense because any delta on an aftermarket dyno will be clearer. All manufactures should release wheel numbers.
