Bought mine 2nd hand and had it retrofit with morimoto d2s 5k bulbs. Now I light up the freeway at night.

Are you using the halogen bulb that comes with them? People are saying it's not bright enough, but I hate how bright HIDs are. Compared to the stock bulb how is it?

Factory halogen is bright enough. As stated, you HAVE to adjust the lights after installing. Many people are not smart enough to understand that, then complain they can't see at night

The spyder ones are about $450 shipped. Are they a noticeable upgrade? They light up like the JDM ones too with the exception of the ugly turn signal LED.

I am using the bulbs that came with the winjets, even after beaming correctly there are times where it isn't just bright enough. Stock Bulb vs Winjets Bulb at best is marginal, so I will be going to get a HID kit eventually

Good to know. I'm not fond of HIDs because most people don't align them properly. I'll be ordering them and doing it myself though, so I plan to not make the same mistake.

Don't know if I got lucky but my Winjets + Kensun HIDs have an almost perfect cutoff. I'd recommend this combo.

I've got the Winjets with the Morimoto HID kit, as well. Knock on wood, they've been great so far.

Plenty of light and the cutoff seems good to me... I'm not an expert on lighting though so I'm sure it could be better with more mods.

Regardless of whether it's headlights or the engine, people will always want MOAR POWAH.

I would ask how long some of these guys have had their winjets installed for? A few of the members in the san diego 86 club have reported reliability/early wear and tear issues about a year or so after installation. Also DIY for sealing and keeping condensation out may be in your future. I don't have the headlights I am just saying what I have heard.

*Some of these problems the members fixed themselves so may not be a issue with the amount of money you save

I'm debating whether or not I should look at buying new headlights or just buy a solid HID kit.

Threads like these make me favor the latter more.

Based on the mixed reviews I have read regarding various aftermarket headlights, I've decided to keep the OEM's.

Spending ~$400 for a marginal aesthetic upgrade with a sketchy track record doesn't make sense for me.

Tail lights seem to do a bit better, but I am happy with the OEM's now that I have redded them out. Might swap them out for Tom's later on.

Honestly from seeing both in person off of a car and on i purchased spyder because they seem a little better sealed.
But thats just an opinion no way to prove it.
I went with spyders and love them.

Thanks for the info. I'm right now torn between the spyders and the spec d's. It's been tough deciding between the two.
