Different engine and setup. The stock ECU is too smart so you actually don't really see any gains with an exhaust. When you tune, however, that's a different story. High revving 86 motor...hmm...

In preparation for the JR supercharger, is a 3" cbe going to help or will I need a custom tune to take advantage of it?

CBE does nothing to mess with the tune. If you change the catalytic converters, then...that's a different story.

Does that also mean it doesn't do much to improve performance with the JRS?

A CBE does nothing to power performance in general on any setup whether it is turbo, supercharged, or NA. The biggest performance gain comes from deleting the catalytic converters.

Different overpipe with stock cats do nothing as well.

IMO a CBE alone is merely for sound. Get ride of the cats like CSG David said, it becomes a whole new game!

Well I thought we were comparing something like the mugen race exhuast...a 70mm straight pipe from the header back...you wouldnt run a front pipe with this idea...All im getting at is the overpipe is a bottleneck we're kinda stuck with, so is it worth running a 70mm with a 62mm overpipe?

Aesthetically aftermarket exhausts look better too lol

What did you do? Did you replace everything including from header to exhaust?

Where in SF will you be? I'd love to look at your setup. I'm in the Bay Area.

Yes, it looks a lot better!

I only have a CBE (Perrin 2.5" non-resonated). My build thread is linked on the first page of this thread.

I'll open everything up once I convince CSG to do some exhaust work

I'm planning to get on corn syrup too

I'm going to be around South San Francisco, just north of sfo airport...

Can you tune the sound? Looking at 2.5 for NA bit don't want to have to upgrade to to three down the line if i go FI. . Coming from b20vtec so this is new to me

Rumor has it you can sustain some really high speeds.... but it's also highly illegal on public roads
