Thanks for the heads up, the parts that I will be sourcing will be second hand and let's just say they will be much less then half price. Plan is to do most of the work my self and use professional bodyshop to paint and finish off bits that "I'm out of my depth".

Just wondering, how much does a BRZ like this go for at an auction?

From other threads and online auctions they can sell from about $1K to pushing $10K with just about every dollar point in between. All depends on the damage and what crowd is bidding on the car.

That's the magic of car auctions it take just two people to be very interested in the same car and the price can almost reach the price of "straight" car. I've purchased few car at salvage auctions before and can tell you that it's very unpredictable, main thing is setting a max budget for bidding and not getting involved in the whole auction war. It seems to be just a waiting game as similar cars can go for as low as few grand and next week can reach double the price.

Yep! I could never go to an auction with my father since he would get caught up in the bidding and pay way too much. The auctions are even set up to try and get you to fall into that trap.

Car has been bought for little bit more then I wanted to pay for it and now just waiting for delivery on monday. Let's hope that the little extra money was worth it and the car has decent set of coilovers and engine will be easy fix.
