Each of these works is great in its entirety, but I am giving you times of fragments whose mood is sort of similar (IMO) to Barber's Adagio.

22:50 - 39:10

I especially like Brahms, but Mahler and Beethoven are close - I'm a Romantic, what can I say. My second suggestion was Scheherazade though

Yeah, Mahler too - and more dramatically captures the essence of orgasm IMO. One moment while I find exactly where that is, I never remember exactly... However, that's Eroica - missing a "t"...

Ok, it's Mahler 8, which itself is... well, you'll probably never have it that good. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSYEOLwVfU8"]Mahler: Symphony No. 8 / Bernstein · Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra - YouTube[/ame] - listen all the way through if you're willing and patient. The last ~10 minutes is a treat, as is... it starts around the ~22 minute mark, but about 25:20 is... well, you know. Follow the soprano, who unfortunately is lost a little in this otherwise superb recording. I have to say though, this one is worth owning and listening to on a stereo setup capable of producing proper dynamic range... unless, of course, you get to a live performance which is overwhelming, but worth every moment.

OK... not a big fan of Romanticism here, with exception of Brahms, who wasn't so much Romantic after all... And for me acceptable Russian music begins with Prokofiev and Stravinsky

Some say that Ravel has captured the essence of sexual intercourse in "Bolero", but that would be very sad sex... more like some sort of bland and forced masturbation

Hah. I dunno about Bolero, recheck my post for that bit of Mahler's 8th.

I really enjoy the Russian composers as well, but if I'm performing it always gets a Romantic twist. Not really sure why, that's just how it goes. I'll always have a soft spot for Kalinnikov's 1st symphony, but that has as much to do with the fact it's the last symphony I performed, and I did so in Kumamoto, Japan in 1992... after 2 weeks on tour (Taipei, then to Japan where we hit Tokyo and Oguni before finishing in Kumamoto).

So, if you're from the "current," and don't want to remove a rear "seat" to install a record player, can you just get these on mp3's on amazon or something? And yes, I admit, I suppose I should have just looked instead of asking that last part. I'm just heading out the door... And lazy

It really is all in the performance/recording. I love Adagio For Strings.

Speaking of amazing performance/recording. This is my all-time favorite recording of AC-DC. It's a bootleg capture from the sound board.

It's great, and I have to admit that I think never heard Mahler's 8th for some reason... Definitely will catch up. Not sure about the soprano but Lenny looked absolutely ecstatic approaching that climax

I heard that one, the classical radio here plays it quite often. They like playing less-known Classical and Romantic composers, like Hummel, Wilms, Gade etc.
